I used to mtb a fair bit. Unfortunately had a bad fall about 4 years ago. Not been able to ride since due to a painful back. It was my own stupid fault, riding a trail for the first time too fast, it turned to the right and I didn’t. Landed face first in scree, arse just about hit the back of my head.

I’ll definitely get back on some time though.

Ouch!!

Little ride today. Ok not the fastest on the Mountain bike, but the speed will come with the fitness.

A very keen cyclist had a really bad accident a few weeks ago. He hit a pot hole and went over…even though he had a helmet on he ended up at Southampton general in a coma. So as Shaw Taylor always said…“keep em peeled”.

Overweight MAMIL - but am least faster than the blokes on the couch  Went out on the MTB with daughter this weekend for first time in ages and stacked…two fractured ribs… so no cycling for a while. Thankfully daughter is perfectly fine

Two guys I used rto work with both cycled to work. One was chased by a dog, fell off and broke his arm. The other hit a pothole, went over the handlebars and broke his back! I like to go out occasionally and it is the best way to see the countryside but because I dont rid often I get really sore in that area between the anus and the ballsack - dont know what it is called but the saddle really plays havoc with it!

I go out most weeks - full fledged MAMIL - found yet another hobby to fritter away my hard earned on titanium this and unobtainium that. Proper shiny kit merchant.

That said I have dropped a stone and a half since starting last August so the Ayatollah doesn’t mind.

If I’m not on the school run, I’ll cycle to and from work - a brisk 15-20 minutes and surprisingly exhilirating. Only problem is the roads are trecherous (potholes mainly) and while most drivers are okay, some a utter shits and seem to regard a cyclist as only slightly better than demon spawn.

Pretty keen on MTB. As I am currently unemployed, I am taking advantage of the decent weather and have been out at Swinley Forest (purpose made MTB trail centre nearly Bracknell) regularly, trying to get fit again. In the past I have ridden trails in Wales, Surrey and various others. Have seen some pretty nasty crashes, and a guy was sadly killed at Swinley a few weeks back, but I am unscathed so far. For me, its a lot more fun than road cycling, with no traffic to worry about. Plus, you get way more exercise per mile than you do on the road.

I used to work with a chap who went on a charity ride from Southampton to Glagow. He’s the most accident prone person I know so it was was considered by many as “an accident waiting to happen” for a good cause. The accident happened just outside Manchester on the day of the Manchester air disaster when a plane caught fire on the runway…Dave put his front wheel in a pothole and landed on his face.

Later that day he found himself in the same ward as the air disaster survivors being iterview by the local press…he was apparently the worst injured in the ward…they though he had been on the plane.

Yep thats me too - got back on the bike just over 18 months ago when I finally gave up smoking after 20 years  Managed to convince Mrs Cracked Rib that I be allowed to spend what previously went on ciggys on bike and stuff… not sure she realised how much it adds up to even at 5-6 packs a week… lots of nice carbon stuff now

… will be 3-4 weeks before I can get back on the road though ;-(

Thought I would share a few pics of my bird that I ride hard every few days :mountain_biking_man:

After a wet session:

And when the sun was still hanging around:

I like to get out there, though I did a bit more before the day an elderly spinster armed with a hatchback smashed me to fuck a bit in a cycle lane and left me bleeding in the road.

That was a wake up call for helmets and the art of trying to guess what everyone else is doing.

Super skills innit :lou_lol:

Drawling, I love bike porn!

We’re is this?

Its Swinley Forest, Bracknell. A giant MTB playground and only about 20 mins away for me.
