Watership Down was, I believe, on TV on Easter Sunday and the mumsnet types are up in arms that their poor little Penelope’s and Toby’s have been “damaged” by the violence and trauma shown.

Didn’t the dumb cunts know? Everyone knows it’s basically the darkest of dark horror movies FFS.

Kung Fu Panda 3. Daughter 1 and 2 loved it. Plenty of laughter.

It was on today. I watched it. fkin bloodbath RIP :lou_sad:

TBH, not sure what part of ‘allegory’ those mumsnet types complaining do not understand… Adams’ book was never meant as a fluffy bunny tale for the kids… :lou_facepalm_2:

PS.Barry should go watch Zootropolis - make sit easy to understand why ignorance and intolerance is wrong

So, on Friday Lewis had a rather stupid day/night/morning celebrating becoming more of an old git (late 20s now guys, get the violins out for me!).

I spent the rest of Saturday sulking, feeling very sorry for myself, contemplating whether I would ever feel normal again.

Girl & I decided the cure for this would be takeaway and a ‘light’ film. Sky have got Inside Out on catch up, so thought we’d give that a go.

I was not mentally prepared for that film whilst in such a fragile state. That said, hats off to the Pixar folk, again. Such a brilliantly put together film. A really great concept, and as is often the case with Pixar, the film tackles some pretty heavy issues in a really elegant way that gets the point across without being at all patronising.

So many clever little touches, personally thought the ‘train of thought’ was one such example of genius.

I am a bit cautious about this film. I sa the first one and loved it as I have Greek family and I can hear my gran saying half of what was said in that film. The follow up tv series was just full of the same regurgitated jokes and was really tiresome (a bit like the later series of Allo Allo)

I really want it to be good but suspect it will be gash

It was v.bad CB. Even bird thought it was Bad, and she watches all kind of shit. There was actually a couple of quite funny jokes I thought, but there was no plot to speak of, or anything like that. It was v.tiresome + boring. I would deffo go watch it if I was you.

Whenever anyone mentions Castaway I think of the film with Oliver Reed and that bird who spent a lot of the film stark bollock naked - Amanda Donohoe I think. I was so impressed with the film that I read the book written by the original bird who went on the trip. I am thinking the Tom Hanks film was v.different?

Is great - especially my 11 year old loves it! … would recommend ‘zootropolis’ aswell - despite more disney, teh whole pixar alliance has rubbed off an it tckles prejudice in a clever way.

PS. by ‘not mentally prepared’- did you get something in your eye? I did… :lou_surprised:

Shut up! you had something in your eye.

I was just tired, alright? And I was thinking about something sad earlier and and

fine, you got me.

Vote for me for inside out. So we’ll done. I think I could show it to parents I work with to make them think about what it’s like to be a child.

Confession. There were no kids present when I watched this show. I am also forty one, and on less understanding football forums, I’d be mocked for the rest of my life. Here, it’ll just be a couple of years, or whenever I embarrass myself further, whichever comes sooner.

Anyway, I’ve been miffed with the state of DC lately, and remembered that their animated stuff was excellent. I reckon ol’ Supes came off particularly badly in recent movies. Doesn’t seem arsed. His dad tells him he doesn’t have to save people, etc.

That in mind, checked out Superman: The Animated Series for the first time ever. Made in the late 90s at a time when DC were blowing people away with their animated efforts, it still holds up now, and was exactly what I needed after seeing that miserable bastard.

The origin arc, 3 episodes at 24 minutes each, does a better and more faithful job of establishing the universe than either of the film series managed. It’s not as visually impressive as Man of Steel (it’s a cartoon, FFS).

Recommended for either nippers or nippettes. The version of Lois in this has so much sass she could power Metropolis. It also has the best Lex Luthor I’ve seen off the comic page. The legendary Clancy Brown (villain in Highlander) plays him to frightening effect. No crappy land plans. No slapstick. No Otis (and sadly no Otisberg). He’s calculating malevolence personified.

Hadn’t seen this thread before so just to reiterate…

Finding Dory - disappointing - kids (5 and 7) loved it though

None of the below will be news to anyone but…

Inside Out - that’s top notch kids film making. Brilliant film. As KRG suggests don’t watch with a hangover/on a comedown.

Ben and Holly - great for younger kids/pretty funny too

I introduced my son to classic Tom and Jerry the other day. If I was into posting pictures of my kids on the internet I’d show you the very definition of ‘agog’ and ‘slackjawed’ - he loved it.

Showed my 9 year old Time Bandits last week, while not blown away he did enjoy it. The film hasn’t really dated much either other than the kid’s bedroom at the beginning.
