Playstation Now on your PC

But not your Mac

Playstation Now on your PC

Both Playstation and Xbox offer some fantastic titles, but not everyone is willing to splurge on a console. Most people do, however, have a computer. Sony wants to open up its library of Playstation Now titles to PC owners, who can connect up a PS4 controller through a new USB dongle and enjoy big console titles on the small screen.

When it’s up and running later this year, users running a laptop with Windows 7 or higher will be able to download Playstation Now and access more than 400 titles, including games from the Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank and God of War franchises. Currently, the system is only compatible with the PS4 and certain televisions.

The games can be played using a Dualshock 4 controller connected with a MicroUSB cable, or wirelessly hooked up through the new Wireless USB Adaptor.

There will be some limitations to who can make use of Playstation Now. As well as requiring at least Windows 7, Sony recommends using a PC with at least a 3.5 gHz Intel i3 or 3.8 gHz AMD A10 processor, along with at least 2 GB of RAM and 300 mb of free storage space.

It’s also not designed for people using a low-speed internet connection. Instead, Sony says you’ll need to be using a connection running at more than 5 Mbps to use the Playstation Now library.

At the moment, Sony hasn’t committed to offering the system to Mac users. For those with a capable Windows computer, the system will be available in Europe “soon” with North America to follow.

The Dualshock 4 Adaptor will cost US$24.99 when it goes on sale, and is fully compatible with the current RemotePlay system for Mac and PC.

Meh.

Get a PS4, or one of the HD ones when it comes out.

Never liked the lag on streamed gaming.

I am waiting until the PS4.5 comes out and then I will buy a PS4 as they should be a lot cheaper.

I don’t have a 4K TV and don’t plan to get one for a while so a PS4.5 would be wasted.

Oh no, it won’t work on my Mac.

Guess, I’ll just have to play my PS4 games on my PS4.

I hate this 'kin Ps4.5 thing too. Mostly because I am now tempted to get one for my new(ish) 4k tele. Dammit I am weak.

Have you got Sky Q yet??

A) I haven’t got Sky (though my Stepdad is good enough to let me use his Sky GO code on my PS4)

B) I don’t actually know what Sky Q really is?

It’s the next evolution of Sky, the best bit being you can stop watching a program on one TV and move to another room with a connected Sky Q box and start from where you left off.

On and the football is in 4K!!

Sounds kinda cool, but I doubt I can afford that.

Happy to carry on being a sponge off my very kind Step Dad for now :lou_wink:

my telly cost about £500. I wouldn’t spent £4000 on a telly. I also think its uncouth to brag about how much your telly cost.

My telly cost £300, in effect you are bragging to me about the cost of your telly by brazenly telling me the cost of your telly, I don’t need to be reminded that my telly is a cheap telly by you telling me your telly is a £500 telly. #alltellysmatter
