Listen to plenty whilst walking the dog .

Best football one is The Game ,provided Alyson Rudd isnā€™t on .

The Spectator is pretty good .

Far and away my favourite is The Two Mikes. The format of two old soaks sat there waffling on with Mike Parry coming out with some complete and utter bollocks should be boring , but itā€™s a great listen .

I once had the misfortune of listening to the Two Mikes, late at night, on the way back to Liverpool.

I was so struck by Parryā€™s delivery that the minute I got in, tweeted the station telling them to ā€œenjoy coke responsibly, boys!ā€

If they spend half the fucking show promoting themselves, please tell them to stop.

Youā€™re not happy about that, are you? I think itā€™s fair enough. I make a podcast and it takes up a lot of time and money, for something I give away for free. Thereā€™s got to come a point, when you spend as much time as they do, where it has to start paying, and you go for some combination of adverts, paid additional content, or subscription. If I wanted to make a show as often as they do, Iā€™d need to go part-time at work, as would my co-host and producer.

I think itā€™s shite when anything becomes overtly commercial.

Theyā€™ve got zero idea where the line is. Iā€™m getting to the point where Iā€™m not going to listen to them anymore, as I did with talkSPORT.

From the outset, their Friday show has been a heavy corporate betting tie-in. Donā€™t usually bother downloading that, but I understand the proposition.

Now it seems that their entire business model is about trolling people onto ACAST.

They, and you, can play it much smarter. Lots of podcasters already do. Herringā€™s doing a kickstarter. If the Ramble had played it smart, theyā€™d have waited a year, left the good vibes about the Ramble relatively intact, and come back with a new show. What theyā€™ve actually done is decide they want to capitalise on the existing brand, fucking it up in the process.

Well, one of them is from Pompey :lou_sunglasses:

And most of them have gigs elsewhere that pay the bills.

Richard Herring has a great podcast ā€¦ https://www.comedy.co.uk/podcasts/richard_herring_lst_podcast/

Just a series of chats with fellow comics and writers from Leicester Square.

btw, whatā€™s wrong with Alyson Rudd? If memory serves, she loves the Saints, even thoā€™ sheā€™s a Red.

Mind you, I guess they watch us these days just to see what is coming down the pipeline :lou_eyes_to_sky:

Thatā€™s fair enough. I donā€™t enjoy the commercial aspect of it either. But it becomes a necessity if you want to grow to a certain level.

Iā€™d never have any advertising on my show, on principle. But then that means that weā€™ll probably never get many more listeners than we already have, and we canā€™t spend what weā€™d like to on improving it.

BTW, they didnā€™t advertise anything at the live show. :lou_wink:

Been enjoying Hip Hop saved my life with Romesh Ranganathan. Not the biggest Hip hop fan myself but enjoy the chat and stories. Quite a few comedians have been on.

That is one comedian i dislike everything he says goes on about ā€œyou white folkā€ Well yes some of us are.

Canā€™t say I have noticed him doing that.

So I tried to write this the other night and the site seemed to have a breakdown.

Iā€™ve listened to Russell Brandā€™s Under the Skin podcast. Itā€™s new (on itunes and I downloaded off some other site but not Acast). The first one is ā€˜Can We Really Stop Terrorā€™ and his guest is Brad Evans (ā€œpolitical philosopher, critical theorist and writer, whose work specialises on the problem of violenceā€). I found it quite interesting. Brand isnā€™t the annoying guy some people think he is, in this. I used to think he was awful until I saw him live a realised heā€™s an intelligent guy.

The Guardian have written a reasonable review.

Another 2 episodes of Brandā€™s Under the Skin podcast done. Most recent is Adam Curtis.

Both excellent and give food for thought.

Curtis talks about lanyards at one point @rallyboy

Richard Herring, yes that guy who you knew in the 90ā€™s  His podcasts are great. At least an hour talking in depth to fellow comics actors etc.

Booked tickets to see 2 of Richard Herrings Leicester Square Theatre podcast. One with Adam Buxton (my favourite podcaster) and Sara Pascoe. Going on my own as my partner just doesnā€™t get podcasts.

I love buxtons podcasts. He went ages after Christmas not doing another podcast but there were some available last time I looked, I think. Unfortunately, none of them would download for me.

Yeah I noticed there was a big gap between them. It was a struggle. He gets me through going to different visits. Like and subscribe, like and subscribe.

Athletico Minceā€¦Ep. 41 Meet Barry Homeowner.

Huey Morgan from Fun Lovin Criminals and Radio 6 has a new Podcast Huey: off the record. First episode is with Ricky Gervais.

I love Huey"s accent so will probably keep listening.

A good podcast Iā€™ve found is The Ref Show. It sounds really boring, but is quite interesting particularly if thereā€™s contentious issues in the previous weekends games. A Journo,an ex ref & an ex pro basically discuss the performance of refs and incidents at various games. Theyā€™re quite scathing of the refs at times, and raise some interesting points of law. Itā€™s only about 20 mins long, which is about right.
