RSD: More terror in France and Tunisia

Reports are coming in of an attack in France.

A decapitated body has been found in a factory in France, one suspect killed and another under arrest. Though not officially confirmed, Hollande thinks that it bears the hallmarks of terrorism.

** EDIT** : More bad news coming in from Tunisia, sadly.

Tourists barricade themselves in their rooms after gunmen attack two hotels in Tunisia http://trib.al/HsJ5583

One of the tragic things about the Tunisian terrorism - the latest in a number of attacks in recent years - is that tourists are naturally going to think twice about visiting the country as a result, thereby damaging Tunisiaā€™s economy, which is, of course, just what the terrorists want.

Iā€™m supposed to be going there next wext for 2 weeks, weā€™re going to Monastir just around the corner from Sousse.

Me, personally, I have no worries about going but the missus is panicking and worries.

What worse is that they just shot people on the beach! What sort of person has this mindset to do that?

No problem with Tunisia. For the avoidance of any doubt, what I was ā€œlikingā€ was Tokes being on the current affairs button.

I admire your stance, Bob. On balance, I think you are probably making the correct call; although, Iā€™d be lying if I didnā€™t say thereā€™s a part of me that has deep reservations about going there in the present climate.

To be honest Halo I could be killed crossing the road tomorrow or could choke on a peanut or whatever.

Iā€™m not going to let a mindless few ruin my life for me in the name of their misguided principlesā€¦hold on, isnā€™t that what we call HSE?

One little trick that I always use when travelling to less than brilliantly safe places and staying in hotels (common targets) - make sure there are two exit routes from your room/corridor, one of them preferably not through the main reception. If you find there arenā€™t two, change rooms.

Just something to add on this already depressing topic.

Philip Hammond reckons that ISIS camps in Libya sowed the seeds of the Tunisia attack. This will be the Libya that British and French forces rubble-ised, decapitating their government and territorial security. Now to be fair, Gaddafi did have a lot of previous form for allowing extremists to train on Libyan soil. That was before Blairā€™s government brought Gaddafi in from the cold, though.

Again the opinion of a leftist paper Pap, what do YOU think, not some copy and paste opinion, I would say its ISIS opportunism at the points you make ie Libya in rubble, why did Blair wrongly bring him in from the cold? Thatā€™s the question.

How about the beheading of the Al-Qaeda hydraā€™s head created a vaccum perfectly made for IS to step into?

I know itā€™s impossible to sensibly predict where the rise of IS May lead in, say, five years time, but anyone give reasons for anything other than hopeless pessimism?

A couple of tactical thermonuclear warheads, stragetically placed, would lead to hopeless optimism perchance?

Iā€™d offer a few cheery thoughts on this but Iā€™m just jumping in the car down to London to do some research on the murders of polio vaccination volunteers by the Pakistani Taliban.

Yeah, that type of horror is beyond words let alone comprehension.

Interested to hear more, when you get time - and if you are able to share.

Actually Barry, youā€™ve done yourself up like a kipper there, mate. The point about cause and effect in Libya, is my opinion. One of the main reasons I made it was because the article does not make the link.
