Saints' next manager

Given the reports concerning Koeman, might be time to start speculating on the identity of his replacement. Names taken from the bookies.

Let me know if you want another option adding to the poll.

  • Eddie Howe
  • Frank De Boer
  • Unai Emery
  • Andre Villas-Boas
  • David Moyes
  • Roberto Mancini
  • Manuel Pellegrini
  • Matthew Le Tissier

Unal Emery is apparently both a top target and keen to make the move.

Certainly has an impressive European track record…although his English is reported to be minimal…not sure if that’s a stumbling block. Poch didn’t have much English when he joined us.

Too soon…not ready to talk about it yet.

I’ll be fine.

No really, I’m okay.

If we’re serious about the Europa League this season, he seems like a decent candidate. Didn’t know he didn’t speak much English.

On the AVB choice, I’ve seen a lot of people advancing the argument that he tallied more points than Pochettino during his decent season at Spurs. If we re-sign Gareth Bale, good option :lou_wink_2:

Whoever it is should be on a heavily incentivized 5 yr contract. Stop fucking about.

Moyes? Mrs Gay would need to hide my razor blades… :lou_sad:

Gay Highland Saint (The bastard hideous offspring of the unholy union of StuRomseySaint and Alpine… :lou_surprised:)

That the way I would do - 1m year 1, 2 mil year 2, 3 year et, 4 year 4, 8 year 5 + bonus millions for tropihies and league placings…

Let’s not get rash and offer a great manager a five year deal just to discover after three games that he’s a crap manager.

Don’t they have all sorts of break clauses and reduced rates to mitigate against this sort of thing?

Probably, but if a manager wants time and security he’ll want some guarantees so it’s a risk to tie anyone down to long contracts.

see Forecast/Pulis

Staggering the rewards or linking them to targets looks the best way.

Yep. We have a 5 year plan. These are our year on year targets. Hit targets earn bonus. Exceed targets earn more bonus. Miss targets earn less. Really miss targets get sacked.

I’d be happy with either Frank De Boer or Unal Emery. I voted for Emery.

They’ve both won things. The only person on our inaugural shortlist that hasn’t is David Moyes.

The language thing is a concern with Umal Emery, but his pedigree in Spain has been excellent. This wouldn’t be the first time that he has replaced Koeman - he took the hot seat in Valencia after RK’s reign ended, took that team to three Europa League quarter finals, finishing 6th and then 3rd.

Looks the business, and is a specialist in replacing players every season!

I think I need more information on the candidates at the moment.

I’m more informed about the EU referendum than the new manager candidates.

AVB for me - knows the Prem, great record with Zenit over the last few years and never really got a fair crack of the whip at Spurs or Chelski.

Emery is the obvious choice but I can’t help but feel we would be another stepping stone for him, would be good to get a coach who is actually committed to the club rather than using us to progress.

Quite the contrary - none of our defectors in recent times have had much difficulty in moving on so I can’t be arsed with lamenting their departure.

Also most of the names listed would’ve been utter fantasies a few years ago. My, how we’ve grown. And not due to any given individual.

Emery, win Europa, get CL spot, laugh at all the wankers who left for greener pastures :)))

I’m losing track of which clubs I should hate the most, and why.

Cheeky tweet from Le God here.

Could get used to this seat 😉 pic.twitter.com/nzLUVo2BJZ
