Saints v Inter Milan - Build Up And Matchday Thread

Hope we can lift ourselves for Inter after being humbled by Chelsea. Obviously they’re a class act and losing to them was no disgrace but the way they made us look so ordinary has made me feel bit nervy about thursday now.

We really need to start getting a bit clinical in the final third. The last Inter game really highlighted how little dominating possession means if you can’t hit the back of the net.

Hopefully we’ll see either J Rod or Long back by then, to give us some different options.

Still going for a win though … 1-0 Saints for me, Tadic to score

we will win 1-0. I know this stuff and have never been wrong

Beers in the Stable beforehand, according to SO5. Fired up with quality pies, pizza, and ales / cider, what could go wrong? 2-0 win, sorry Fats.

I think the gloves will be off for this one, everything will come together and Milan will be the recipients of a damned good thrashing. 4-1 Saints.

Not another case of New Manager syndrome I hope.

@steveintheforest what have you done? Do you have previous in match threads? (I honestly can’t remember)

Dangerous ground to tread on if you’re breaking your match thread V

3-0 to the Saints BTW.

Has De Boer been sacked? Was supposed to happen early this morning?

Have we any fit players left to rotate?

A front 3 of McQueen Olomola and Isgrove wouldn’t inspire confidence

Any news on Schlong and J-Rod?

From the BBC

A confused picture at Inter Milan this morning, where it is fair to say Frank de Boer’s tenure as manager is hanging by a thread.

I spoke to a couple of people at the club late last night.

One said De Boer’s departure would be announced this morning, another said the Dutchman could cling on for Thursday’s Europa League tie with Southampton, but that if he didn’t win that, he would be out.

It seems the former Ajax coach, who was only appointed in August, is not taking training this morning ahead of a conversation with Inter’s owners, the Suning Group, that could seal his fate.

He can’t be any more rusty than he was last time out @Inter can he?

Possibly - 20 mins plus a bang on the noggin against Sunderland reserves isn’t going bring you to full fitness!

#recallGallagher!

And it has been confirmed de Boer has been given his marching orders.

Inter visit Southampton in the Europa League on Thursday (20:05 GMT).

Youth team coach Stefano Vecchi will take charge of the first team for that fixture.
