Saints v West Brom Build Up and Match Thread

A return to form for Saints after a disappointing night against Spurs.

3-0.

Are we at there place?

If so 2-1 Saints

No, here.

We’ll grind out a win, despite them bringing a fleet of buses.

At home again still 2-1 to Saints

I am genuinely intrigued to see the impact of Redmond’s absence.

We’ll either score more because we’ll have more creative players on the pitch that have end-product, or we’ll concede more because Redmond does a shit-load of work for the team.

Heart says we’ll win, but head sees West Brom nicking it by a set-piece/counter attacking goal.

Booo.

Fuck it, my lucky pessimism? it’s no longer lucky, my lucky top seems to have lost its mojo…I’m not going to be there so a turgid 2-0 to us.

Is Pulis their manager?

A win, with an impressive display, is imperative on Saturday. At least 2 goals(as they’ll probably score from a set piece) and a scintillating display of dynamic football(don’t ask, I have no idea) are a necessity.

My daughter is coming to her first ever game, so the team had better perform, or she’ll think i’m a liar, for constantly telling that we are the best team in the world(she may have already guessed).

Impress my daughter and i will be a happy man

WBA are no mugs this season, do not play for a draw in the games I have seen of them. Going to be tough as they will be looking to leapfrog us. For me back to winning ways at home 2-0.

Nice bit of patronising by Mark Lawrenson! Fucking prick!

It will be interesting to see how Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk performs - because the speculation surrounding him might put him under a bit of pressure.

Everyone seems to have him down as the centre-back who can sort everyone’s problems out, from Manchester City to Liverpool. I don’t think he is that player yet.

Van Dijk is a very good defender, yes, but we don’t know yet how he will do at a top club. The way things are at the moment, with him being expected to play very well every week, we will start to see how he copes with that.

Did you expect anything less? He’s been a patronising prick for years.

Not sure I’m loving the look of today’s team to be honest. A lack of width could be a problem against a compact WBA.

COYS!

…surely shaped by Optimus trousers…beta v1.9 - now with EXTRA pictures!

Not sure I see the lack of width in that TBH, Boufal and Tadic on the wings running their left and right backs ragged (one hopes). McQueen and Martina bombing down the wings, we have it in the bag.

Boufal and Tadic both tend to come inside a lot. Martina rarely overlaps and gets beyond the opposition.

I hope I’m wrong!!

Anyone got a stream?

Twice now good balls have rolled across their box and no one is there, we need a striker desperately.

Nope, Sportsmania seems to be down.

I have on TSN, you’re missing Tadic cut back again and again then roll a pass sideways, Boufal choosing the difficut option and ballsing it up, Martina being shite as he is.
