Salford City 2-0 Notts County

great result for Salford City in the FA Cup 4th round.

Pin the clip within this artic all there is a pretty amazing piece of defending and a great bit of skill to beat 3 defenders, play a quick one two and then he scores. Great skills for a team so low down the football ‘pyramid’.

A word for my local team, Maidenhead United. A fantastic 1-1 Cup draw today away to Port Vale, who are three leagues above them. Vale dominated and Maidenhead’s only shot on target came in the 94th minute.

Trivia fact: Maidenhead are one of only 15 current teams who contested the very first FA Cup in 1871-72.

Trivia fact 2: Maidenhead have the oldest ground in the country which has been continuously occupied by the same team. First game held in February 1871.

Trivia fact 3 (yes, I am boring you now): The team manager this season is Alan Devonshire, FA Cup winner with West Ham in 1980.

Tickets being secured for Maidenhead v Port Vale cup replay. Cracking non league ground, literally in the middle of town and thus walking distance to several pubs. No segregation, seats are same price as terrace. Will be quite a contrast with the Stoke match!

Gutted that Maidenhead lost the replay. Went for it from the off, scored after 15 mins, and with 20 mins gone you could be forgiven for mistaking which team was three leagues above the other, such was the home team’s dominance. Oh for better finishing! Vale belatedly got organised and levelled by half time. 2nd half and two more goals from the Vale, who had fully woken up by now. Late pressure and a flurry of mostly off-target shots from Maidenhead, but it finished 1-3. Crowd of 2,200 (usual league gate 600).
