Season already started for some Scottish Teams

Just as well Scotland didn’t quaify for The Euros, as I’ve just noticed Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts have just played their 1st leg of Europa Qualifying matches!!

Fuck me half our team aren’t even back for training, some still playing in The Euros haven’t even started their holidays yet!!

Even Midgetland have already started their campaign.

Hibs don’t start until the 2nd qualifying. That’s Hibernians of Malta who lost on Thursday.

Midgets only won 1-0 at home in the 1st leg, so we might not have to return there and I don’t fancy Llandudno’s chances either.

I bow to your superior knowledge of all things Europa

Some mouth watering ties attracting huge crowds, FC Kukesi v FK Rudar drew a mighty 104, unfortunately the dog stayed at home. There were 12 other ties with crowds of less than 1000, amongst them the Mighty Connah’s Quay in North Wales who managed 573 for their match in their 1500 capacity ground.

What is the fucking point of teams like this playing in Europe? I’m all for Grass Root Football, but FFS they will be out of pocket probably after their away tie in Norway!! No wonder why THe Europa Cup is looked down upon by bigger clubs.

Don’t worry I’ll be the first in the queue for our matches, but really when you see the teams in the pre qualifying for the qualifying rounds you have to wonder … WHY!!

Scroll down to Europa fixtures.

Should we just scrap the FA cup and let chelsea, arsenal and the manchesters fight it out?

You’ve no romance in your soul. These type of competitions give the little guys a chance to play the big boys and I’m all for it.

I’m all for Grass Roots Football and supporting the underdog in The FA Cup. A David v Goliath FA Cup match is one of the highlights of the competition … but this is supposed to be a competition for the 2nd tier elite of Europe.

Some of the teams in this stage of the game are playing in Leagues lower standard than that of say Eastleigh are. How did Connah’s Quay qualify? Crowds of less than 1000 at a dozen of the games where teams are travelling hundreds, even a thousand miles. I bet everybody in CQ would rather get a good draw in the FA Cup than an away trip to some hell hole in Eastern Europe that 99% of football fans won’t even know is taking place!

Don’t agree with this point of view. If a team has proved itself to be better than most in it’s national league then they should have the opportunity to play in european competitions. I’m willing to bet everyone at Connah’s Quay were dreaming of being drawn against IFK Gothenburg, Brondby or Mytjityland. And so what if they only got an attendance of 573? For a team who’s average attendance is just over 200 (cheers google), an attendance of 573 must have been amazing for them. Now maybe their average attendance goes up to 250, and they start to grow, and so on. Even the big teams had to start somewhere.
