Shaved or Hairy...or a bit in between

Now, there has been a big increase in the last few years towards beards, and I have noticed that even in high profile companies they are no longer going for the clean shaven look.

So, what would you recommend for an interview? Personally I just go for a bit of stubble (never clean shaven as I look about 8 when I do), but has a full on beard ever given people issues when getting a job. I’m looking at KRG and Bearsy here…

I’ve gone goatee for the last few years, partly due to my dislike of shaving but mainly because my Mrs likes it. From October - March I go full beard, or as full as I can grow one which is in fact, pathetic.

My only issue with it is that it’s very “salt & pepper” in colour.

Well, I work in the game industry mate.

I could rock up to an interview in shorts and a vest and it likely wouldn’t have a great deal of impact.

I like the bit in between to have some hair on it.

Oh, are we talking beards? Yes I am a goatee wearer. Mine too is salt and pepper (more salt than pepper). I have been called Paul Hollywood but clearly I dont have his brooding good looks because I dont get the same amount of lady action. Dont get me started on Hipsters though. WTF is that all about?

Do you know what, it’s taken until now to realise you were VFTT…fucking hell I need to concentrate more.

Sorry, didnt answer your question. A bit of stubble but not much. Maybe a day or two depending on how dark you are?

Hairy - maybe a bit of trimming to keep things neat and tidy, but none of the plucked chicken look.

I always let me beard grow for about 3 months, then have a shave, then start all over again. This is down to sheer laziness. When I do shave I think it looks kinda odd and prefer the look after about a weeks growth!

It is all a little bit ‘silver’ these days.

I dunno what is best for Getting Jobs, I don’t suppose it really matters. My personal beard is a distinguished and fashionable beaver that marks me out as a mysterious and rebellious man of fashion, but when i see someone else sporting one i think, fkn hipster cunt, so i suppose it is Grey Area (no offence intended flahute).

My advice would be - if you can’t grow a beard, don’t grow a beard.

Mr. Lallana take note.

Competence in your chosen field and the good sense to walk the fuck out if facial hair is a problem*.

* With the obvious exceptions made for GoT, ZZ Top, etc.

I’m not growing a beard until I’ve moved house and they find the bodies.

Have you not seen his new adverts, all about clean shaven and moisturiser!

I have dark hair (going a bit grey tbf). But any facial hair is a bit gingery. God has cursed me with ginger chin hair :frowning:

mine is Hairy at work and shaven at home

Job interviews hairy on top and clean shaven down below just in case a gas mask has to come into play.

Wait a few years, Ted, and that ginger will be white.

WRT the ginger - have you any Irish in you?

If not, do you want some?

I’d say it depends totally on your situation.

If you deal with customers directly then I would try to be as smart as possible - certainly at the interview.

I’d say that if it’s concerning you, you probably should shave.

Plus if you’re applying for another job in the church, then looking 8 years old might be an advantage.

I wear SALT and pepper stubble all the time now except for funerals. But I recognise that not everyone has my effortless charm or style.

Never trust men with beards - wrong 'uns the lot of them.

It’s women with beards that sets alarm bells off with me.

Chins or clams?
