Sky pull the Jackson show

As they don’t want a white man playing him.

Does colour matter?

Barry, how come all your links open in the same tab, do you deliberately change the option?

Just back tab, anyway its an interesting subject as he said why would he want a white man to play him when he is a proud black man. Its art though so does he have that right?

Soup anyone?

Was he speaking from beyond the grave?

Michael Jackson, to question the colour of who could possibly play him?
Have you not read the news, seen the interview with Oprah Winfrey?

I suggest you do and then comment, you seem a bit backward.

Sorry poor choice of wording again, uninformed.

I believe the programme was pulled because it was an appalling production of a ridiculous idea, highlighted by Jackson’s daughter’s comments.

Had it been a good idea and well made, it would have aired.

You don’t think the decision was based upon colour?

We’ve had colour for a long time Bazza.

Perhaps time to swap your old tv mate.

Why are you so obsessed with people’s colour/religion Barry?

I notice you make no mention of the fact that Paris complained about the portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor as well. Was she played by a black woman?

Not colour, quality.

Big TV companies don’t give a fuck about anything but ratings and advertisers.

Does Murdoch look like the kind of guy who would lose sleep if he upset someone?

OK Barry, from what little I’ve heard/read about this:

First, there’s no “Jackson show” per se. The story relates to an episode of a comedy series, in which Michael Jackson is portrayed/impersonated by Joseph Fiennes. Jackson’s daughter, Paris, said that she found it highly offensive that a white actor should be cast in the role, however light-hearted the programme. Many people agreed, it seems, and an online petition attracted 20,000 signatures. Sky have now decided to pull the show. I haven’t seen any interview with Oprah Winfrey and I’m not interested enough to look it up.

Not much of a story here as far as I can see. I certainly can’t see what “right” you’re talking about, or what validity you’re querying.

I think this thread is done.

So what’s your opinion on this, Barry?

I think its a disgrace, a white man playing a man of colour.
What next Rodney Trotter to play Sidney Poitier?
