Of all the people I thought least likely to convert to feminism, Cherts was pretty high on the list. Not as high as Hypo admittedly, but still pretty high.

I was trying to think about what the word grates so much, in case Fatso asked (like that’s gonna happen - he’s much more comfortable in sweeping “feminist circle” generalisims!)
I think it grates because it’s a word that only gets used on women (by men and women) and it’s a word you grow up dreading being called. It’s not a general insult, but one that has real meaning and intent.
Whereas with cunt - it’s used on men and women, and women are supposed to not like it for its crudeness, therefore as a woman, that makes it more fun to use!

There are some very strange people out there in internet land. I remember some of the comments on the site of the pictures of the two people who were murdered in Thailand, one of them raped. To say some of the comments were sick does not do them justice. I can only imagine that the people who wrote them had some very serious issues going on. Makes you wonder if they say the same things at work or in the pub or whether they just bottle it up and spew it out when they are alone behind their keyboards. Scary stuff.
