Given the fallout of recent days, is it any surprise that there are plenty who are pretty fucked off with what has transpired as a result of lies and bullshit?
The thing I’m finding really difficult to process and accept, is that just a few days ago, all of you [ok, not all, but the vast majority] were lapping all this information up like it was Scarlett Johansen’s juices flowing onto your tongues.
And let’s remind ourselves for a moment, of exactly why that was:
It was because from word go, large swathes of the information I was providing from my source, was being proven to be true [indeed – proven to be true] after I had shared it, and at the very least, being confirmed as being accurate by other reputable sources. The accurate information just kept coming, and you were all loving it, that little old unknown Sotonians was playing host to such revelations, and making a name for itself.
My source then gave me in the most enthusiastic terms, the information that Manuel Pellegrini had been offered a contract. I sat on this for a while as I typed it up, contemplating the size of the call it was to go public with that. But I kept thinking back to the last time, when I hesitated in sharing it, and our friend Jeremy Wilson beat me to the punch with the same information by under an hour.
So I stuck my neck out, trusted my enthusiastic source, and ran with it.
A day passed, without comment from the Club elsewhere – and I received and passed on an update from my source that there were delays, but it should all still be well. But that if it was not – _the job would be offered to Claude Puel _.
About a couple of hours later – our friendly journalist at the Telegraph puts out a clearly Club fed piece, all about how Pellegrini had been seriously considered, but we had decided he was not the right fit. Ever since, we’ve been fed article after article on the wonders of Claude Puel, and how close he is to getting the job. Well, er, that’s a surprise. It’s exactly what my source said would happen, if things didn’t work out with MP.
I remain as sorry about that now as I was when it broke for getting your hopes up, and I understand how dissappointed you must have been when Pellegrini didn’t get the job after my confident post, and we then went after Puel, just as my source said we would. If you were dissappointed at the news, imagine how I must’ve been feeling!?
Ever since that moment – apart from a small handful of about six of you who’ve backed me up and been supportive [thank you, you know who you are] – you’ve all distanced yourself from me like a man carrying a terribly contagious plague, with some of you seeming to actively look for ways to twist anything I have said since, to add to this new stance – that after an incredible run of verified information, suddenly – “Jack is full of Schitt”.
Like just because one thing, out of everything my source has shared, and I’ve had the balls to stick my neck on the line and post here has been dismissed with a wave of Jeremy Wilson’s hand – that all the other proven facts I have shared with you, are suddenly all bullshit, and Jack is a liar.
I would have expected nothing less at some classless joint like TSW – where everyone is treated as a faceless character on a computer screen, devoid of human feelings – but not here. I thought Sotonians was different.
This was a place that in the almost six months I’ve been with you – I found to be a genuinely warm community, where rather than treating people like names on a screen to hurl abuse at – we saw beyond all that shite, and made real friendships with the actual human beings behind the screen names. I haven’t yet had the opportunity of taking those friendships I thought I was making into the real world by attending the match day drinks sessions [due to my dad’s health, as you already knew] – but I was really looking forward to doing so, and getting to know so many of you better.
That is what I have found so dissappointing in the aftermath of “Pellegrini-gate”. Not only have I brought over one hundred and fifty new members to Sotonians on the back of this information adventure and helped put the site on the map – but since I first arrived, I have strived to be an honest, friendly and dedicated member of our community. Then with one post which took real balls to go public with, I am treated by the majority with a cold shoulder, and eyed with disdain and suspicion, with all that good [proven to be accurate] informational bounty I had brought to Sotonians, seemingly cast aside as meaningless.
If it had been you in my shoes, knowing you had a genuine bonafide source of quality Saints intel, and you passed it all on in good faith – imagine how you would be feeling right now, when people you counted as friends, shun you and call you a liar.
