Genuinely can’t remember what the last Saints goal I saw at St. Mary’s was, nor who scored it…
No intention of wetting the bed, no matter the final score today. Again, that’s not what this is about. Given the season’s only a week away we do need to see a distinct playing style forming though - ideally with a more settled lineup.
Last game we scored in at home was against Palace at the beginning of April. 3 - 1, Redmond, Yoshi and JWP. Though if you weren’t at that game I can’t help you with which goal you last saw!!
100% with you on what we need to see today regardless of score. I think too much importance is placed on pre-season games these days, they’re starting to get over-hyped. To me it’s about experimenting (rather than experimenting during the season too much!), giving players a run out and getting them to look forwards to what is to come over the next year, not winning and smashing every team we play out of the park.
However good for fan morale it might be to win all our pre-seasons 10 - 0 by only playing our best 11, that would tell the managerial team nothing about what works and what doesn’t. Having said that, I’m hoping for a good showing today with a few goals to our name!!!
