Southampton v West Brom match thread

C’mon boys!

Return to a back 4 for this one I reckon. Not the team I would like but owing to Shane Long being knackered:

FF

Soares VVD Fonte Bertrand

Clasie Romeu Davis

Mane Pelle Tadic

I fear that Wanyama will come in for either Clasie or Romeu too. Hope not.

We have approached this week with a squad plan, the days of 11 guys playing 42 games are gone so it wouldn’t surprise me if Long is kept up our sleeves after last night’s great effort.

We look in pretty decent nick, I’m happy we have enough to deal with a knackered and bus-parking West Brom - as long as the one chance doesn’t fall to Sadio.

In terms of the outfield positions I can’t see the sense in playing anything other than this lineup.

Wouldn’t be entirely surprised if Forster is rested in order to ease him back (though I’d prefer him playing if he is ready). He seemed to be doing a lot of stretches yesterday and doesn’t seem 100% mobile just yet.

Oh @LouLouMySweet you should have let Sfcism start this thread, we’re doomed now, doomed I tell you.

Serious question for everyone though, I always get concerned when Romeu comes on as he seems like a yellow card waiting to happen. Not having seen him “live” for a while has he really improved that much. You don’t really get a sense of the players on the 16:9 screen.

How did I get sacked after that performance… Those in charge need to take a good look at themselves.

How very dare you! :lou_facepalm_2:

I hope Forster does play. His leadership between the sticks is vital. He never stops communicating with the back 4 and then a knock on to this Fonte communicates with the midfield, so the whole defensive unit is as one. communication is the key to success.

Not sacked dude… but tardy. Its already Friday and there we were languishing without a match thread… and Lou has stepped in forgetting the golden rules… :lou_facepalm_2:

From what I’ve seen of Romeu, I wouldn’t agree with that assessment at all. I liked the look of him the first time I saw him, and he’s got better the more he’s played. Intercepts, tackles and passes well, and has more of an eye for goal than we’ve come to expect in many of our midfielders of late. I think his partnership with Clasie in the holding pair looks extremely promising.

Agreed. Romeu played excellently on Weds night, to the extent that the crowd were singing about him in the second half. Although Clasie also looked good, I would play Romeu and Vic tomorrow.

1-1 I am going for mu comfort bet, I can’t see us losing but neither can I see us winning here either. Chelsea at home and a draw between Liverpool and United and it should take care of my hummus and yoga for a week.

Another 2-0 as I’ve just bumped into my Neighbour. He’s just returned from an 18 month contract in China and has only made it to 3 home games this season…this will be his 4th.

So far his record is 3 games 9 points…that’s a cracking record Nico…welcome home. :lou_lol:

Also very happy for JWP.

:lou_lol: blow the whistle now ref

Playing some lovely passing football.

80%+ possession after 18 mins.

Great holding play. Very patient stuff, but final 3rd not much going on. You can see the confidence has returned with the swagger.

I say this then we have a couple of shots on target within a minute.
