Never missed it as a kid, but now can’t remember the last time I watched it.

What is with the Hamilton hate*? I know he is a bit cringey at times, but I don’t really mind him. If anything he’s just a bit beige, blends in and is mostly inoffensive. Cracking racer though.

*Edit: In general, I mean. Not just you GA.

I miss the good old days when proper sports stars used to win it

People like Princess Ann and Tara

Edit: Actually, I think her name was Sara

No hate KRG, too strong a word for this. No, just find him irritatingly vain and up himself. Perhaps not his fault given he was ‘groomed’ for success by Maclaren from such an early age… then deserted them the the car was eclipsed…

Yeah, he has the same effect on me, Gay.

But, I think I’m also a bit jealous about Nicole.

Not watching at all.

I’ve no interest in people who start quoting bits of the bible that suit them.

Appalling role model.

IMO

“Twat in a hat” didn’t exactly sound affectionate :lou_wink:

Meh, he’s a winner. He didn’t want to be pratting around in a car clearly not fit for purpose. I also remember an interview at the time where he said he hated all the cringey ads he had to do for McLaren, and was happy to be able to focus more on racing at Mercedes (and the rest).

I dunno, I’m not his #1 fan by any stretch. Just see him get a lot of stick, and I never really understood all of it.

She did a launch event for us last year, I was helping out to demo the new game and met her briefly. She was a bit odd (I honestly think that lifestyle does weird things to people’s brains), but yeah she is stunning.

Spill the beans, KRG. :lou_lol:

Ha. Nothing particularly juicy I’m afraid, Halo.

Just funny about certain, little, things. She was adamant that she wouldn’t hold a small papercut out of one of the characters when she was posing for photos. It was a bit odd.

Other than that, she really was pretty nice.

I think it’s an award cursed by it’s name. Most successful sports people nowadays are so driven and focussed that they are necessarily bland and beige. The sports ‘personality’ is a dying breed.

Yeah I agree with this.

Should drop the ‘Personality’ from the title as it confuses things. Especially when ‘personalities’ like Tyson Fury are put up for it.

It should just be about sporting achievement.

Goat and KRG’s above posts have made me think about who would be in the running for winning an award based on Personality alone … and, to be honest, no one springs readily to mind.

So, yeah, SPOTY is a ridiculous title.

Bradley Wiggins was the last personality to win it IMHO

Well, I didn’t watch it because I haven’t got a telly, but I see Andy Murray won it.

Fair enough, ain’t it?

A man devoid of personality. Perfect.
