Congratulations to Steven Davis who’s been awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours.
STEVEN DAVIS MBE
The unsung hero finally gets some appreciation and well deserved to … he never gives less than 100% on the pitch and suspect he’s the same in his personal life.
IMO he’s one of the best transfers we’ve ever made, both in value for money and what he’s brought to the table.

OK…but I hate the honours system…so fuck 'em all…except deserving lolly-pop ladies.

Davis was a deal done right. At a time when other clubs were stripping New Rangers company bare, and legally so, I think Cortese bunged them half a mil when he didn’t have to, and they were very grateful for that.
As a player, he’s been in that team ever since he arrived, has never looked like he wants out, and in my view, should be captain. He has already captained other sides.
I will simply repeat my lone chant which I occasionally bellow out in Itchen North in the deepest, boomiest Ulster accent I can muster.
“Good man, Steven!”
papbro finds this amusing. I do it for him.

Think it was £850K. Bargain.

It was and I seem to remember it was Davis himself, who insisted on us coughing up the money, when he could of just left on a free
Leave him alone and be nice @lifeintheslowlane … it’s probably the only medal he’ll win in his life
They keep offering me a knighthood…the only way I’ll accept is if they tell me if I turn it down again they’ll give it to Becks.

While Steve is happy this is a great opportunity to get a new central midfielder, give SD a testimonial and slowly retire him to the back benches of the first team.
A great servant to the club, 110% er, very reliable, always gives his best, just not what is needed right now. They may well need him more back him in the coming months
