Just watched a Bruce Springsteen tribute concert (a Musicares Tribute To BS). Some thoughts.
The guy has written so many great songs. He has to be up there with Lennon/McCartney.

How awesome was Neil Young’s version of Born in the USA?
Whilst I am thinking about it…one of the great moments in rock…the 1,2,3,4 in Born To Run. It gets me every time.
Watching Morello let loose last night got me thinking about poor old Nils Lofgren. It must be the pinnacle of your career to get to play in the E Street Band but he is a fine guitarist in his own right and he seems to be happy strumming away in the background. Waste of a great talent.
Waste of a great talent? Playing in the e street band? How is that a waste! He has played in one of the greatest bands with the greatest singer songwriter of modern times.
Springsteen is the only artiste I have seen in a stadium, because there was no other way of seeing him. I wouldn’t pay to see anyone else do that. He was great. Thinking about it, I’ve seen him twice in stadiums. And he was great both times.
oh, I have actually seen Take That in a stadium as well, but that was a present for the Mrs so doesn’t count. For the record, the show they put on was excellent.
Indeed he has, but he just seems to strum a few chords. If you hear him play his own stuff you would see that he is just as capable as Tom Morello of letting loose. Its a bit like signing Cristiana Ronaldo and playing him at full back.
But you can hear him play his own stuff, he has released plenty of solo stuff.
Yep but why have in in your band just to play rhythm? He doesnt do that with Morello. He wouldnt do that with Clapton. I have seen Springsteen a few times but have never seen Lofgren given a solo spot.

Agreed. We have thrashed out a very amicable solution to our disagreement. This thread should be held up as a great example of how the Internet should work.
