🏌 The Home of Happy Golf Stories

Those posts never work with Saints, but did with golf.

South starts with a double bogey to drop back into the pack.

J Spieth -4 (1)

Can somebody bring back the real Jordan Spieth? The guy pretending to be the overnight leader has just pulled his tee shot into the trees on the second. He’s spending more time in there than an Amazonian woodcutter.

Bogey for Spieth

J Spieth -3 (2)

McIlroy was alongside Spieth and Kuchar. Now it's just Kuch. Spieth's horror start continues as he misses a five-foot putt to save par on the second.

Now we're convinced this is an impostor. Spieth does not miss those. He just doesn't.

:lou_lol: not for the bogey but for the commentary...

Didn't Spieth do this 2 years ago when he was defending champion?

lol I’m not THAT much of a golf nerd to remember every players’ performance, staying up past 10pm local is hard work for me these days bloody TV doesn’t start until 11!

TBH Spieth has been less than superhuman of late so it is no surprise to me.

More important that Rory stays in the mix, it is a better start for him than usual 1st 2 rounds his putter wasn’t really firing - it will come

Anecdote.

Patrick Reid is one of the few Yanks who actually is a European Tour Member. He uses the co-sanctioned events obviously, but he takes it seriously and was a welcome addition at our Race to Dubai last year.

And no I didn’t put him in my fantasy team for the weekend… bugger

On laptop tonight. With the event at Barasti and Golf on BBC 2 pulled a home office day for tomorrow.

Interesting day out to Ajman today shopping for Grandson tons of big brand labels at £3 for anything then China Mall for some Mukberry handbag presents and

A new booze shop with a stunning range of wines at Aldi/Lidl prices.

I may mispost later.

And Reed is a great player but don’t believe he has the balls or more important the back story to win this

A wayward 2nd.

An awkward recovery chip

Boom! And Rory is in the share of the lead!

Loved Rory’s recovery out of fairway bunker. Even he couldn’t quite believe he hit the green.

And Ooh.

Rory & Patrick.

I went to a cousin’s wedding reception at a golf club last night, fun was had by all. Does that count as a happy golf story?

Only thing that was weird was they had the football on the telly, had to ask them to put the golf on so I could keep up with it…

A happy golf story.

Ben Bender decided to go out on top. The 93-year-old from Ohio had been playing golf for 65 years when he hit his first-ever hole-in-one last month and promptly announced he had played his final ever round.

Bender took up golf at the age of 28 but had never aced a hole until his last round. “I’d come close to some hole-in-ones, but this one was level on the green before it curved towards the hole and went in,” Bender told the Zanesville Times Recorder. “I was in awe watching it. I played a few more holes, but my hips were hurting and I had to stop. It seemed the Lord knew this was my last round so he gave me a hole-in-one.”

Bender’s shot came on the 152-yard third hole at Ohio’s Green Valley golf course. His form had been patchy until then – he had shot an eight and a seven on the first two holes.

Bender was an accomplished golfer in his prime and said he played off a three handicap at one point. “I was lucky to play golf this long, but I never expected [a hole-in-one],” he said. “It was the last time I was able to play, and I think God had a hand in this. I loved the game and hate to give it up, but I can’t play forever.”

#BMWPGA Pro Am

Lols from MLT

Having watched the struggle going on at Lords, I completely forgot about The PGA and I’ve been up there several times in the past few years.

Delighted then to switch on and find Richard Bland leading on 5 under.

Come on boy! If you are to finally win one after over 400 attempts, this one might even get you close to the Rder Cup.

They had 20,000 + for the Pro Am yesterday - it’s a great event and a reminder in some ways that Quality is better than Quantity.

Maybe next year, I keep being invited to work there.

The impossible recovery shot…

40 yard cut (we’d call that a slice)

Gotta love Poulter :lou_eyes_to_sky:

U.S. Open started and will be more entertaining than Russia v Saudis.

Justin has parred first 3 holes and just seen Spieth take a 6 on no. 11 par 3, his 2nd.
