The Royals and the Nazis

There’s a bit of a storm in the press at the moment surrounding recently unearthed footage of Queen Elizabeth II giving a Nazi salute as a child. This image is from the Express. Couldn’t quite bear to link to the Sun, even though it was they who broke the story.

Prince Philip has been photographed at a Nazi rally, while it has long been reckoned that abdicated Edward VIII was a sympathiser, with some even suggesting that Hitler would have put him on the throne had the campaign against Britain been successful.

Clearly, there was some level of admiration and respect between the House of Windsor and the Nazi regime before its full horror was revealed to the world. You can pass off friendly smiles, handshakes with members of the regime as being the cost of doing diplomatic business. Civility doesn’t mean condonement. Little Liz sending out the Sieg Heils? Not entirely comfy with that.

btw, check me out. Godwin’s law on post #1. In there like swimwear.

It looks very bad, but who knows, maybe the Queen Mum was teaching her how to start off a really good cartwheel. If you look at the way Liz’s body seems balanced, it actually does look more like that to me.

It’s not too late to execute them all anyway though, please.

And just for fun, this is what the American pledge of allegiance in schools looked like in the 30’s

I was going to say the exact same thing regarding cartwheels! I am sure that how they were taught back in the 80s :-/

Now, now. I’m sure the Queen wouldn’t get involved in anything as grubby as cartwheeling. She’d have someone do that for her.

Oh come on Paps, we were all little girls once, even the queen!

Not all of us. I missed out by about an inch.

I once wrote a letter to Shoot magazine, about what it would take to bring the Royal Family down. The conclusion was that if the Queen is not personally convicted, no amount of child abuse & corruption in the rest of the family would be enough. The Queen is almost bullet proof, I reckon. She could probably take a shit on Diana’s grave, and wipe her arse on the Cenotaph.

If it turned out however, that financial and political backing of the Windsors was instrumental in the rise of the Nazi’s, and I think the official position of papsweb is that it definitely was, then you know, maybe that would start something!

Edit: Not ITK

That would explain the funny wave she does then. “We are on our way to the Cenotaph. It is a tiny bit stinky in here as we have not yet wiped one’s arse.”

The Queen probably has more German DNA in her than Hitler.

I think we need to distinguish between the hailing a cab motion and the Nazi salute. The arm is a very common limb on humans. That is a reasonable position in context. The Nazis can’t have exclusive rights on it.

Mind you, no cab looks to be on the agenda in that footage.

Yeah, but hang on. If she’s doing Nazi salutes in her own private time, then isn’t that OK because we don’t know the context?!

Was it published, Bearsy? I once wrote a letter to Shoot, and Jimmy Greaves published it and I got a £10 voucher.

As much as I dislike the Royal family, I hate the fact that I am being made to defend them in this non-issue.

Trying to find the correct context in this mud puddle would be as easy as trying to find a picture of my penis in Anjelina Jolie’s vagina.

Edit: I see that Lou used the word context at the exact same time as me, and that is the key word here. Context.

Apparently, the Queen cannot be committed of any crime. By this alone, I make her a traitor. At a time when the British public are suffering financially, she could have been knocking off banks with a sawn-off to supplement family incomes. No one could have touched her, but she couldn’t be bothered getting off her arse.

The first Elizabeth was all up for going to war with her boys, and Queen’d over sorting the Armada out. It’s usually true what they say about sequels.

And a Blue Peter Badge!!!

Her uncle, the heir to the throne, loved Nazis?

I get it Pap, I really do. However, we are talking about the alleged Nazi salute here. I’m not a fan of convicting even the queen on trumped up charges.
