Do yourself a favor and try some Penderyn.

It will surprise you with its complexity and its mellowness and its close harmony singing.

Isnā€™t it?

I have had several. 18 year but I prefer them more (select the word here). Splendid stuff.

So, Iā€™ve had these in my drinks cabinet for 20+ years, should I crack them open or not??

Iā€™ll give you 3 quid for the cat.

Best do some research there firstā€¦ who is the distiller? The only 'Speyside Distillary Co I can find was set up in 1954 but did not begin production until 1990ā€¦ so idea what this is

ā‚¬260 apparently??

Am I right in saying that once bottled a 12 year old is still a 12 year old even 20 years later? Iā€™m sure I was told that years ago at a tasting session - I may have been drunk at the time.

Bit of background - would mean a 25 was bottled in 2015 as production really begun in 1990. I think that price is probably a bit high, given a foreign site but worth cracking open and giving a right good tastingā€¦ could be great. ā€¦of course it could be a bit pants and worth more unopened, but thems the choicesā€¦ As mentioned above if I had never opened my lagavulin 1979 distillers it woudl be around Ā£1400 now,but I would have missed and exceptional whisky experience that cost me Ā£47. I dont ā€˜collecrtā€™ just buy to drink.

I had just opened a bottle of Talisker Skye before I went away. I miss it. 9 days.

Hope it flies for you mate.

I reckon a certain Mr. L Reed of Hampshire had a Scotch or two last night after getting a deal over the line.

A cheap foreign import though no doubt.

Cheers @gwc We are having a shutdown so it should go quick never enough time in a shutdown :lou_lol:

Party time! @philippinesaint !

Yep that is correctā€¦ unlike wine Whisky does not change in the bottle. However, you do see prices increase for very good stuff as it becomes rarerā€¦ especially since many distilaries are no longer producing to the same quality as they did 20/30 years ago. My 1979 distilled/1995 bottled 16 year old distillers edition Lagavulin was Ā£47 in 1995. An unopened, boxed bottle can be found for Ā£1400 todayā€¦ mainly because its rare and it was consider bloody goodā€¦ which is very true  sadly i only have a quarter bottle left so its in effect Ā£100 a dram now so I feel guilty even ooking at it
