Things that make you go WOW!

now I am not a bird fan by a long shot, but I find the way they fly all together fascinating. I find Mother Nature amazing at times.

i also love tornados and thunderstorms amazing to watch.

I’ll give you a genuine fact that will make you go wow.

as a black girl in South Africa, you are more likely to be raped than to learn to read or write.

One source of many

I was looking for a different kind of wow… I think the same applies to Nigeria?

Elf-related turf wars. In Formby.

It takes, on average, the gf apprx one hour from the time she says “I’m off to bed” to the point she actually gets into bed.

I have no fucking idea how, or what exactly she’s doing. It seems to involve a fair amount of walking between rooms and removing make up/jewellery.

Year and a half living together and I still find it fucking amazing.

Lets face it females have no concept of time management.

Why do they set their watches fast and always arrive late?

If they have to be somewhere at a given time why do they not leave before the alloted time?

They think that half an hour foreplay is only 5 minutes (might be right on this one)

if it takes 5 mins to drive to the shops why do they spend 4 hours in them and then go back 20 mins after arriving home?

Back on topic

Watching the Sealife in its natural habitat the different colours shapes and sizes of fish, anenomes, starfish coral.

Oh my God. That does not make me go ‘wow’. That just makes me feel so utterly depressed about the world.

Yes, this was an attempt to lighten things a little. Like the below water clock… I want one!!

The Grotta Azzurra in Capri made me go WOW. As did some of the lovely Signores on the island.

Breathtaking. Videos don’t do the scale of it justice:

This happens fairly frequently in Brighton over the sea near the pier. Wonderful to watch.

I had to find an explanation for this :-

Note the magnets are not attracted to the copper. The physics of the process is explained briefly bythedevguy:

The movement of the magnet induces an electric current in the copper and with electric current comes a magnetic field, which attracts the magnet. The magnet doesn’t stick to the wall as it falls because the induced current, and its corresponding magnetic field, are perfectly distributed so that the magnet feels magnetic force equally from all sides. The magnetic field slows the magnet, but can’t stop its fall because if the magnet stopped moving, the induced electric field would go away and the magnet would start falling again.

Of note, while the magnet is falling slowly, the copper pipe will feel heavier in the hand because the pipe is “holding up” the magnet. I wonder whether the same effect could be observed by droppingbuckyballs through a smaller copper tube?

Not quite right that explanation actually. The magnet is not attracted by the induced magnetic field but opposed by it - hence following more slowly than if the pipe was not copper. If the magnet was attracted it would accelerate down the pipe contravening Newton’s 3rd law for starters. Here endeth the lesson.

In fairness to the girl, her time management is probably much better than mine. I’m usually late for most things, and she’s more often than not trying to hurry me along.

Which, is why this is all the more baffling to me. It’s an isolated idiosyncrasy that I just cannot get my head around.
