Stories pouring out now

Not sure if anyone caught C4 news tonight? Investigation into Cambridge Analytica, it’s a collective effort by the Guardian/Observer, NYT and C4 News. Whatever you think of mainstream News gathering, this is brave, (brave because the lawsuits could have financially sunk The Guardian). The story was broken on Saturday but the undercover footage is pretty damning. Sadly tonight a Facebook team is visiting CA HQ before the ineffectual UK authorities can do anything. They are applying for a warrant to investigate tomorrow, with a team of 10 employees to deal with this. Why is this important? Traditional checks and balances aren’t in place to keep up with technology. Micro messages on social media aren’t even checked or traceable. Facebook knew about this 2 years ago.

Christopher Wylie will be on tomorrow, as well as more info on the Trump campaign

The fb that claimed they can alter elections?

The trouble is we all sign up to these things through terms of services smallprint. Who actually reads the small print when you download an app?

Vote once and vote often. Russian democracy

To be fair though it is not difficult to never do those dozy surveys on FB.

Equally, in our DNA down here we know everything you type gets seen by someone.

So the only people who should be outraged by all this are pretty dumb.

So one company .CA has been caught but do people only think it is them using their data?

CA went beyond grey areas. They will get slammed but Analytics and AI industries are being created to analyse the shit out of every key stroke.

On my social media streams the same people who go on about Bitcoin (pre sold value in data) moan about their data being collected.

Shame this all happened before GDPR where the fines could have funded the EU health systems…

Oh btw.

You do all know Pap earns a fortune selling our data. :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

Almost paid for a curry last year :lou_eyes_to_sky:

Saw this, this morning…

Trump is the first president since 1897 to not have a dog.

That tells you all you need to know about the man.

If you don’t like dogs, you can fuck off too. :lou_lol:

There’s a good chance I’ll be heading out to America.

Assuming I get through the ESTA process, now asking for your parents’ names. My old dear has got a Muslim one, so that will be fun. I will also be spending time in Virginia, which is government country, y’all. The police will pull you there for being the tiniest bit of speeding.

Going out to instruct budding programmers on a number of technologies. The people hiring me are friends from my former big corporate employers. I’m not certain, but I think the grey bits in my beard got me the gig. My soon to be boss (again) said they added “unbecoming dignity”. Mere hours later, I get the offer.

Coincidence? I think not.

They say Guantanamo Bay is lovely this time of year.

One of my team who has has turkish muslim heritage has just returned from NY & had no problems at all - though his wife did strongly suggest he didn’t grow a beard for the trip.
