🔫 US Gun Violence

Suspected shooter (now dead) named as Steven Paddock, a 64-year-old local to Las Vegas. Seems the cops have also aprehended Marilou Danley, who was travelling with Paddock and described as a “person of interest”.

He did. Try reading his post properly.

Barry, the simple point is that Americans butcher each other far more frequently than terrorists (of any description) do, yet they make a bigger fuss about terrorist murders than they do of their own homicidal maniacs. In fact many Americans get angry if you suggest that they shouldnt allowed access to these lethal weapons. Furthermore, they are inclined to visit “shock and awe” and invade countries, killing thousands of people in the process, if anyone from outside the country kills their kinfolk while continuing to arm nutters who kill their own.

Why is this turning into another discussion about Muslims?

Its not, it is turning into a discussion about how that country views different types of murdering psychopaths.

You’re genuniely crazy.

If there is any consistency there should obviously be a travel ban on white Americans, to protect the rest of us. Surely that is the logical response! I am surprised that Hallmark don’t have a dedicated condolence card for this sort of event.

A bit rich coming from you! Care to explain?

Does anyone think this is going to lead to anything constructive?

How about just leave each other alone for a bit, eh lads?

Americans have to make their choice…stop the mass shootings or enjoy their hobby of using automatic weapons for fun. Unfortunately far too many of them seem to value the latter more than the former. :lou_facepalm_2:

You’re not answering the question. You made a statement, i ask again, how do you know this before the authorities?

Or are you just making it up?

Edit: I highlighted the important bit, but when i post, it deleted it. Come back in to edit and it shows it still there, but disappears again when i post.

I think we would all agree that anyone turning any kind of weapon on peaceful people must have some kind of mental health issues.

Here it is.

Explain how you knew this before the authorities have made any announcements?

Another one of your dubious twitter mates?

Don’t bother to ask.

Soggy was making the comparison on who America percieves as the No 1 threat to the US people at this moment i.e. terrorists whilst ignoring “the Elephant in the room”

BS was just taking the opportunity to twist the statement to snipe at his old sparring partner.

Be careful where you get your info from, especially at this point.

There’s a lot going round already that’s nonsense.

Interesting thread below the linked tweet looking at how this happens, with examples of how it is happening with these tragic events.

How do you manage to check into a hotel with a large (I assume) automatic weapon?

Easy, just go to America. You could even drive up in your tank(cover the metal tracks, they ruin the driveway).

Depending on the state, you can legally carry a firearm out in the open legally.

I don’t know about the state law in Nevada, but in many places simply having those sorts of guns is perfectly legal. As was seen in Charlottesville recently where White Supremacist militia’s could be seen carrying a huge arsenal of weapons with no interference from the authorities.

It’s bonkers.

Nevada appear to have relaxed gun laws so I would assume that anyone can walk in with assault rifles strapped across their chest and no one would blink an eye.

Nevada law does not require firearms owners to have licenses, register their weapons, or limits the number of firearms an individual posses. Automatic assault weapons and machine guns are also legal in the state as long as they are registered and are possessed in adherence to federal law, according to the National Rifle Association.

Nevada does not prohibit the transfer or possession of assault weapons, 50 caliber rifles or large capacity ammunition magazines. Local law enforcement issues concealed handgun licenses. Open carry is legal without a permit.
