Victor Wanyama: What would you do with "Our Mighty Kenyan"?

There is no question that over his time as a Saint, he has been a massive presence for us. A beastly enforcer who has been one of the rocks upon which our defence is built. But having said that – how many times has he also let us down?

The string of Red Cards leading to multiple suspensions and leaving his team-mates short, and hung out to dry.

The simple mental inability to learn from his past mistakes, and not make more of the same reckless challenges when he’s already on a Yellow Card.

And then there is the whole sulky cunt, toys thrown from pram, “Waaaaahhh - nasty board won’t let me leave, I don’t want to be here anymore” routine that completely undermined our start to the season, and arguably contributed to throwing a real spanner in the works of our potentially glorious first European Campaign in years.

Not to mention what the effects of this fall-out had on our team-spirit at the time.

Additionally, there is the small matter of the new contract he’s been sitting on (or perhaps using to wipe his Mighty Arse with) for the last half a season, but still not signed, and the ever dwindling nature of his fast running down current contract.

If he is not going to sign on the dotted line, and is still agitating for a summer exit to go on the High Press with Pochettino in the bright lights of London – we have a fast impending decision to make.

For me, super player that he is – if his heart is not in it anymore – then he can fuck off. It is (or at least should be) an honour to pull on the Sacred Red and White Shirt of our beloved Southampton FC.

So – with the massive new TV deal incoming – just how important is Victor to the Saints? Do we try one last time, to make him an offer he can’t refuse? Or cash in while we can in the summer, before his contract enters its final year, and we potentialy lose him for nothing?

What would you do with the Mighty Kenyan?

Sack him off, stick Romeu in.

Been a big fan of the mighty Kenyan man mountain but he’s been pathetic this season. No heart, no desire and constantly letting the team down.

I’d take a mill or so less for him to not go spurs too. Fuck them, and fuck letting him sulk his way to the move he wants.

Agree with KRG, he’s been immense for us at times but this season he’s been utterly dire and clearly doesn’t want to be here anymore. Don’t mind if players want to move, as long as they still give 100% while they play for us, and Vic has been cruising at around 60% for most of the season so far.

Cash in now while we can. Too in/out to be relied upon. Romeu is too good to play second fiddle to someone who doesn’t really want to be here. I was calling for him to be subbed as soon as he was carded last Saturday…he can’t be trusted.

Agree with most of the above from all of you, but he has not been utterly dire all season. e.g. second half v Liverpool, he made a huge difference. Plenty of other games he has been excellent too, but not all of them for sure.

If he will not sign, then he has to go. Romeu and AN other replacement will do for me.

Mug off Spurs / Liverpool / Man U / arse for £20m, visit Chelsea reserves / Celtic and get replacement for £6m.

Agree with Bucks here. Several games he’s been excellent, Arsenal at home being a prime example. Other games he hasn’t looked anywhere near as good as he can be; I guess the balance has been different this season, with him being on the top of his game a lot less of the time than hitherto.

But yes, if he would rather be elsewhere then let him, as long as the price is right. I can imagine there’d be a number of Premier League teams interested, and quite possibly a few in Europe too. Just as long as it’s not Tottenham (and Levy would have to break the habit of a lifetime and make a sensible offer for us even to consider that. And even then I bet we wouldn’t).

I got slated on the other side for saying he should take a leaf out of Morgan’s book and give 100% in his last year if he wants away.

Of all our departees I thought he stood alone in giving his all throughout - a few nutters disagreed and ripped into Morgan.

Sulking and underperforming as Victor has, and I would put Sadio in that camp too, makes it easy to replace them because whoever comes in is likely to at least look keen every week.

I’m not worried about losing either of them.

“Our Mighty Kenyan” holy hell.

I thought this place was better than Saintsweb

That was the original forum motto, but stevegrant took out an injunction and pap had to back down because stevegrant had high price lawyers underwritten by Fiver Mountain, whereas pap was taking his legal advice from barry.

New forum motto is, “Cheaper than Saintsweb, and sort of ok if you don’t mind whoppers, chewbaccas, and sandal wearing liberal elite”

Indeed. There have been times when he’s still been an important player for us this season. But even apart from his lack of respect for our Club, the sulking, the many half-hearted performances etc. Even when he has been on his game – his disciplinary issues have let both himself and us down badly.

As others have said (and you already know my feelings on this) Romeu has been class for us, and deserves his place in the team. He’ll be fine with Clasie next season and a strong addition in Vic’s mold, yet without the temperament issues.

Do you not get down St. Mary’s much Ted?

The “Mighty Kenyan” is the words to Victor’s song.

Which I used in irony (knowing that Saints fans would understand what I was referring to), as personally I think he’s a selfish cunt.

It is Ted. And it would be even better without the abstract incongruent bollocks you seem to like dropping into threads, whilst offering nothing of any value to the topics yourself.

I’ve yet to see one single post from you since I’ve arrived here that adds anything of substance to Sotonians whatsoever.

ooh jack has laid out ted right there srs!

You fired prematurely there, Ted.

Take it up with the Northam End.

But you’re wrong, Jack.

Take a look at the documentaries, film and TV threads. That’s where Ted adds real industry insight, passion and value.

Fair enough if that is the case Bletch. I’ve not really looked at those threads much. Was simply commenting on my experiences of all the other places I have seen Ted post.

Probably best if a person has nothing worth adding to a topic, that they just don’t add anything to it.

I’ve never had a pot noodle, srs. I always thought they sounded Gross. One of the secretaries tho, she heard about this, and she just put one on my desk. She says she wants to watch me Eat It. I think she might be pervert. It is Beef & Tomato Flavour.

I’m still trying to get the image of Oriel standing in a puddle of Mighty Kenyan mold out of my brain!!

As others have said, Vic has been consistently inconsistent this season, his best games have been against clubs that he would love to move to. Oriel I was dubious about at the beginning of the season but just recently he has really stepped up to the plate so I have no qualms in sacking the Mighty Kenyan off and getting an understudy to Oriel in.

And if Pelle can seriously be nominated for BPL Player of the Month then Victor should get at least a knighthood.
