Villa drinks

Actually quite amusing for the villians - and the song works quite well… although have now got ‘spirit in the sky’ going round in my head…

Alex sounds good. Not been there for years.

I’ll be at Sadlers, in London Rd before and after game. Its our old Footy Club reunion piss up. If I remember, I’ll try and look in and say hi.

Used to be my daytime local when I worked in London Road, good place. Its probably changed since 1989 though.

Not as you would notice. Beer is pretty shite still as well.

Alex good for me.

We’ll definitely do better than the last time I was there - Fowllyd’s birthday in Jan 2009 (his 65th I think…), lost to relegation rivals Doncaster Rovers. Knew we were going down

Doesn’t look a day over 64.

Been saying since the start of the season that I would meet my old boss for a pre-match drink as we did that a lot last season but haven’t once in 2015-16.

If he gets in touch then I’ll be down the White Star and it’s a bit of a trek to do both… But otherwise The Alex suits me. Was one of my most regular haunts when I was living on The Polygon.

Top tip: beer-wise, it’s all about the Timothy Taylor ‘Landlord’ in there. Or a pint of Hoegaarden if you’re feeling flush.

Feeling delicate this morning, but this will not prevent me from getting along to the Alex for 1pm. I am bringing my oft-mentioned but non-posting “friend that knows about football”.

How is the good old Alex…

Get smashed, then don’t post until tomorrow. :lou_wink:

Mwah. Now to think about the long journey back. Good to catch up with a few people yesterday. SO5 4BW, Goatboy, Fowllyd and ant were the other attendees for the pre-match beers. Goaters and I drank in the Giddy Bridge for a bit with my mate Lee and his girlfriend.

I vaguely remember a load of things. Now to try to get back to the North West of England. Fun.

How was the Alex as a venue? Does it get another run out for Spurs?

Feeling a bit ropey :lou_sad:

Thumbs up for the Alex though.

I think we could use it again, although we were lucky that we had a relatively low turnout for the pre-drinks. Seating arrangements were “cosy”. Absolutely no issue as a post-match venue, and one of the best things about it is that anything you might need, cash, ciggies or taxis, are just around the corner.

I had a row with a cab driver because he asked me for 10 quid up front. Now I don’t know why he felt he needed to take a security deposit from someone hanging out on London Road looking like a drunken hobo going to the Flower Estates, but I wouldn’t let it lie. He got pissed off halfway up the Avenue, and drove me back after I’d rambled for the third time about this being “unprecedented” and asking for his name and number. I got my tenner back

Apologies for all-too-brief appearance afterwards. Ended up with attention divided between my girlfriend’s mates (who seem to have formed a little ‘Ant’ fanclub) and my old line manager. Apparently The Giddy Bridge was the place to be! Then had to shoot off to get stuff ready for my party.

The Alex is a decent option but I don’t know whether I could hack the bustle and lack of space every time.
