i watched the whole thing chanting, USA! USA! USA!
Whenever I hear that chant, I can’t help wondering how many people chanting it are thinking “Hold on, I sound like a fucking moron”
Sadly, I always come up with the answer zero, although I know a TON of proper Americans that also find it embarrassing and are rightfully ashamed.

It’s the pledge of allegiance that gets me. There’s national confidence; so sure in your own nationhood that you make your kids swear an oath to it each day.
There is a fine line between patriotism and nationalism. Although I love being here, I’m afraid that America is on the wrong side of that line for me.
