West Ham Utd V Saints

4-3-3 in the next game? Try the U23 / U21’s? Need to try something. Very poor performance.

Charlie Austin says it without saying it, weak poor and no team spirit and we’re fucked. That sky sports interview was going through the motions, they aren’t playing for the club, they’ll be sold on, they get their moves.

Unless Les and Ralph are Chinese the I would say it has very little to do with the Chinese.

Sod the formation - the problem were the 11 on the field. Did anyone really look like they cared? I’d single out Lemina as the worst of a bad bunch but Fatso did that already

There isn’t anyone in that team with a physical presence. We’re too easily rolled over.

I did ask them if they were going, but they didn’t say anything.

So then. We needed to get rid of Eric Black. Check. We needed to get rid of Pellegrino. Check. We needed to play two up fron. Check. We needed to get Charlie back on the pitch. Check.

We seem to be missing something (apart from the opposition goal).

Yep…a shot on target…not one today. :lou_facepalm_2:

In fairness to Hughes, he probably saw Carrillo’s first attempt in this video and thought “I cannot possibly pick this tosser”…

Playing Charlie after such a long lay off smacked of panic management. Give him 20 mins but dont play him from the start when he is rusty in a must win match.

Schoolboy error Mark.

That’s exactly what I thought. Initial surprise and delight was quickly overtaken by thoughts of, “What are you doing there Sparky? How shit must the rest of them be?” Of course, I knew the answer to that one already.

There are moments in life when I wished the internet hadn’t been invented. I would have been in blissful ignorance.

we are truly fucked

I can only assume you are referrring to Piers Morgan’s twitter feed.

Don’t be silly.

His head has been at Man City since before the january transfer window.

Bertrand isnt good enough to play with a sulk on. Get shot. Mcqueen for the rest of the season

Still think Boufal could be a great in the right team

The Southampton way has gone

Thanks Fatso, a good read.

At the risk of posting another miserable and defeatist comment, this line sums it up for me:

“Their best players have been picked off by Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, while Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman were headhunted by Tottenham and Everton respectively, because only certain teams are allowed to have nice things.”

The system is rigged and as you can probably deduce, it fucking pisses me off. I enjoy football (less at present it must be said) as an escape from real life’s genuine troubles. Sadly it now almost completely mirrors the elitist, and corrupt economic systems of the ‘real world’ and no longer represents much of a retreat.

The rich and powerful rule the roost and even the ‘fair play’ regulations do nothing but protect their interests and status at the top of the pyramid.

I was incredibly vocal in support of the club telling Liverpool to fuck off and die over VVD. But look where we are now when we played our only card available of taking the moral high ground.

The elite win again.

It’s safe to say that nothing short of 3 points and a Shane Long/ Nathan Redmond hat-trick on Sunday will restore my faith in the world.

This bit

The Southampton Way looks vulnerable in that cold climate. No one is protected from panic when time is running out and they have already sunk back into the crowd, left to drift along like the rest and make up the numbers. Hughes could save them, but the real challenge for Southampton will be retrieving their core values, the daring that made them different.

Do you mean one of them getting a hat trick or the slightly less ludicrous idea that they may between them get 3 goals?

On current form I’d take 3 shots on target between the pair of them from the next seven games.
