What anti virus and protection do you use

I have recently been hacked.

I did get back the money that was stolen with not too much fuss.

So what antivirus and protection do people use

I’ve used ‘Avira Free’ for years and I’ve never had any problems and my computers tend to get plenty of high risk use … lots of torrent dl’s from the likes of P Bay and streaming vid from dubious sources … and I still do my banking etc. without ever having had any security issues.

There’s also a paid version with exactly the same level of antivirus security, it just comes with a few extra features. I’ve never bothered with it tho’, the freebies excellent.

I’d definitely recommend it.

Avast, been using for a few years not had any problems. Main risk I seem to face is email and other account hacks rather than viruses.

McAfee at work, which is shite, particularly for programmers in a corporate environment.

You see, one of the biggest threats a virus checker looks for is code, especially script.

So, every time I try to compile one of my projects, McAfee decides that my entire fucking project is a festering pile of toxicity, then proceeds to check every single fucking file for virii.

My work machine I use to connect to my clients takes about 90 seconds to compile anything. Any other machine I have does it in about 10-15 seconds.

Bullguard at home.

I’ve used AVG for a looong time without trouble. Mrs Slowlane had McAfee on her Dell laptop which was pre-installed…I recently replaced it for her with AVG which she much prefers.

My experience with McAfee is it’s shit…tries to take over everything by treating you like an idiot.

AVG is a very good AV and popular. I used to use it trouble free before Avira… The only reason I changed was AVG became Pirate Bay ‘unfriendly’ which I seem to remember being something to do with a US Government inititive at the time, against piracy.

Avast is a good one too

… so just in case you’re confused now, if it starts with an ‘A’, chances are it’s good :lou_lol:

So dont go with the Russians sponsered by a UK bank then?

I use Windows Defender and have my firewall on, not had any trouble,

Used to use Avast or was it AVG but having to re-register every year was a bit of a pain.

Not immune. Just not popular enough to be worthy of as much attention.

I use paid-for Avast.

Have had no problems, but am starting to get pished off by the increasing messages highlighting “issues” that Avast can solve, if I pay more.

Think my LinkedIn account has been hacked because I get a lot of emails from contacts which usually contain a link to somewhere, but my email spam filter catches them.

So overall I’m pretty happy online these days.

Better class of hooker and a bloke called Vladimir who has his own Glock

The girls offshore all wear coveralls and Vlad is a safety officer who frowns on automatic pistols for some reason.
