Isle of Man, probably. He has just retired so he ought to have more time to fart about on here. The affair continues in a state of mystery, although if it makes you feel any better, I can confirm that more of his spawn have joined. Just the one actually, but that’s still more.
I didn’t necessarily agree with what he said but I found his honesty refreshing, he didn’t hide behind words which to me was cool and fair play to this forum, I think it was a great thumbs up for opinion and debate.
Censorship is poor form on/in a forum.

You only missed Pap’s dad speaking honestly without filters. It was pretty cool. You were forced to think about the person behind the post, rather than just simply make the leap to a PC reaction and do a lot of finger pointing.
Basically, Pap’s dad is just like the rest of us, but without the fake internet shit…You know, like when people used to talk in pubs and stuff.

Pap’s dad spoke from the heart, used some ill-chosen phraseology that upset some people, apologised for it, people accepted his apology. End of story.

I loved my dad but I wouldn’t have wanted to be on the same forum as him. 
In fact, it’s probably just as well that there were no forums in his day!
He was on SaintsWeb as well, but we really talked about different things there. He’s got some interesting tales from the 70s. Thought it might have gotten awkward at a couple of family functions with some of the shit I’ve written over the years, but apart from being told to take a back seat and let others speak , the old man was cool.
We’re eulogising Pap’s dad for honesty, and encouraging debate, yet get a bit upset when Furball pretty much tout seul, holds his line for some rigorous and meaty debate.
I don’t understand.

Wild stab in the dark, Lou - but have you considered the possibility that we’re talking about the old man because the thread is about him? 
Nah, it deserves a serious answer. When Dad dropped his bombshell, the only person he was really dissing was himself. Same thing with Nobby Plumbs when he refers to himself as a homophobe. Respectively, neither of them have ever incited any kind of violence toward anyone, or said anything derogatory. They’re not harming anyone but themselves, and while Nobby is presumably unrepentant, the old man delivered a stunning response to his critics, not least because he took the time to clarify his position, and apologise for anyone that he had offended.
Contrast that with typical forum fayre, and let’s not narrow it down to just Furball, but it can be very adversarial. Ego can, and often does get in the way, hence the last word threads.
So, personalities removed and dealing in the abstract only. What do you respect more? Someone who admits fault and apologises, putting the matter to rest? Or someone that gets more adversarial instead? I suspect that explains why the old man is getting the plaudits, that and the fact that what he did is fucking unusual on forums.
What’s Furball done? I like Furball 
God, and there was me thinking of starting up a thread about the plight of those poor folks from Syria and Eritria trying to get into Europe…

To be honest, if there were two threads - one about pap’s pap, and the other about Furball’s excellent contributions to the forum, I’d contribute to both, and be positive about both.
I don’t see a contradiction, except that this is the thread discussing pap’s pap.
