England V Sri Lanka

Well waking up to that score line ws a bonus get in England.

or is that get in Sri Lanka you’re batting again :lou_lol:

Nice to see a follow-on enforced in circumstances where caution may have suggested batting a second time. Of course, weather conditions would have influenced the decision, but it does show a good attacking intent from Cook. Fabulous performance in the field, and makes our batting performance look that much better. As Geoffrey Boycott always says, don’t judge a batting performance until you’ve seen both sides bat.

According to the weather forecast we should get a mornings play, so a few more wickets then a rest and bowl them out tomorrow.

Yorkshire and Humber

Forecast Summary

Today

Mainly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy for a time during the afternoon with brisk southwesterly winds. Some brightness is possible later. Feeling pleasant in sheltered areas with winds easing.

Watching the Golf from Ireland yesterday it was a wise move - weather heading from the West looked horrid. Better to put them back in under lights & with dodgy forecast with 3 days to bowl them out & get a few runs

Plus England only bowled 36 overs or so, hardly warmed up! Not even a full day in the field

28-1 after 7 overs

Blue skies coming in.

56-2 after 13.3 overs

At this rate all out for 224 in another 49 overs.

Geoff Boycott thinks Sri Lanka will give England a better fisting today?

Not good news

Ben Stokes will not bowl on the third day of the Leeds Test after suffering a knee injury.

Stokes briefly left the field for treatment on day two after jarring his left knee while bowling. He later returned and bowled a few more overs which, in retrospect, may have been a mistake.

He took to the field at the start of day three but, after a few overs, reported discomfort and returned to the dressing-room for treatment. An England spokesman confirmed that Stokes would not bowl on Saturday and suggested he was unlikely to return to the field.

With the second Investec Test starting in Durham on Friday, Stokes has to be considered an injury doubt. The England selectors will meet at the end of the first Test to decide a squad with Chris Woakes one of those who might be considered a potential replacement. While he is not Stokes - England have been looking for such a player since the retirement of Ian Botham - he is averaging 61 with the bat and 26.64 with the ball in this year’s county championship.

Another option would be for Bairstow, who made a century in England’s first innings in Leeds, and Moeen Ali to move up a position in the batting order and select Jake Ball as a fourth seamer.

93-5 England could actually win this

and there is the commentators curse invoked

101-6

101- 6 Bairstow 9 catches and anderson 9 wickets

“Jonny Bairstow is now one catch away from joining AB de Villiers as the only player to score a century and take 10 catches in a Test match.”

BBC

111-7 this is fantastic bowling. Sri Lanka just can’t handle it!

Early on being the first post :lou_lol:

Still 56- 3 against Sri Lanka shouldnt be happening.

Agree a brilliant result next week to win and wrap up the series

44-1 at the moment, Cook out 5 short of his 10,000 runs chasing a ball he really shouldn’t have been chasing.
