Leicester vs Saints match thread

At least Leicester have used up all their luck allocation in the first half.

COYR

Well, they like their 1-0 results. Nice early Saints goal could unsettle them.

Fucking hell, can we just flog Wanyama already please? I can count the number of decent games he’s had this season on one hand.

Prediction: Wanyama subed 60 mins On: Romeu…hopefully.

Why are Leicester allowed to handle the ball?

I thought they’d used up all their luck in the first half.

Couldn’t give a flying fuck about any other team’s fortunes. Saints lost and that always hurts.

That it hinders our chances of making anything of this season is even more fecking frustrating.

I’m not devastated at the result because I still want Leicester to win the title and we gave them a bloody good game. Had all the play in the second half, kept their chances to a minimum and if Mane had scored early on we would have won. They did defend well but I wasn’t particularly impressed with them today.

Onwards and upwards though! A few more performances like that and we’ve got an excellent chance at Europa again next season, although i’m not overly fussed if that doesn’t happen. Think we need to look at rebuilding a bit in the summer and bringing more young players into the fold.

Ronald is spitting mad on the two penalty decisions…

And so he fucking well should be!! Anywhere else on the pitch the ref would have given a free kick straight away both times. The whole handball situation is farcical. It should be the same as fouls, whereby probably up to 70 - 80% of fouls are not intentional, a geniuine attempt to get the ball has been made, but advantage has been gained by the attempted tackle.

Same thing with Handballs, many are not intentional but was advantage gained? In both situations today undoubtably YES. If the 1st one hadn’t hit the arm square on but continued towards the moving player, who is to say where the ball would have gone. Glanced off his back into the goal, off his hip into the goal? A split second either side as his momentum took him forwards and a goal is likely. I’m pretty sure he adjusted his arm to deflect the ball downwards though. The stupid rule of denying a goal meaning a RED means Refs are tending to be lenient to “accidental” handballs, to avoid a harsh sending off. 2nd one Advantage most certainly gained. End off.

Moot point if we’d scored either of course!!

A sign of progress that we are mightily pissed off at get nothing from an away game at The Champions Elect?

I’ve not seen the incidents but that won’t stop me from having a strong opinion!

Could it be that we have had our 7th or 8th crap ref out of the last 9 or 10 games?

The only way the infamous and flawed swings and roundabouts myth will work now is if we are given one or two unwarranted penalties in EVERY remaining fixture.

If that happens the season will have evened out.

I’ll apologise later if having seen the highlights I disagree with myself!

Seems I missed this latest Premier League Referees Directive that did the rounds recently:

From: PGMOL General Manager.

To: All Premier League Referees.

Dear colleagues.

Please be advised of a new update to your Discretional Game Management Guidelines:

You are hereby instructed not to award any penalties against Leicester City FC for the remainder of the season. Not even for the most blatant handballs in the box, even should they prevent the ball from crossing the line of an otherwise open goal. Not even if you are just yards from the incidents with a clear view and could subsequently be accused of bias, or worse - being a cheating cunt.

Please ensure your fullest cooperation with these new directives at all times.

Don’t worry, we shall deal with any complaints arising from your decisions (or obviously lack of them) at Management level.

Regards,

A. Bunchov-Kuntz.

Well, I’ve seen the highlights now. How the fuck neither of those penalty shouls was given I have no idea. Simpson could easily have moved his arm away for the first, Huth could have done likewise for the second. It’s all very well to talk about the arm moving toward the ball, but leaving your arm there is still a handball, unless you really can’t get it out of the way. That didn’t apply in either of those cases from what I could see.

I know there’s a lot of goodwill for Leicester at present but it did seem a bit much to allow them to play rush-keeper.

Disgraceful, from the BBC:

"Ronald Koeman felt his side were on the receiving end of two bad decisions.

Fucking jog on you wankers. :lou_angry:

MOTD2 said clear penalty against Simpson but not Huth. Discussion then moved to whether every handball should be a penalty, harsh or otherwise.

We would need to employ MLT on the coaching staff if that ever happens.

Simpson clearly moved his arm to deflect the ball away from goal and Huth left his arm in the likely route of any cross - the defence for that professionalism has been removed from the rules.

Two pens, could have been us one up against ten men - so referees will again decide where we finish.

Quite remarkable that in three consecutive games we have been denied blatant red card penalties yet Mane gets sent off for nothing and Victor gets sent off everytime he dives in.

And another thing…putting aside the rather annoying refereeing, they will be worthy champions - it will be an incredible story and sport is great like that sometimes.

It will also mean that Spurs and Liverpool have missed a unique opportunity which might haunt them for decades…

But without wanting to ruin the Leicester party before it has started - lose a couple of players, others unsettled by bling and fame, get destroyed in the Champions’ League which will also cause fixture congestion, and it might make for a dodgy old season next year.

Then again they will have the greatest ever season to celebrate for years to come so a relegation battle might be acceptable.

I’m starting to think that slowly passing the ball around while the opposition get organised, and then gently lobbing a cross towards their tallest defender, is a low percentage attacking move.

The problem is if you ping the ball on the deck towards pelle’s feet, no one has a clue where the ball will end up, least of all Pelle.
