Further to the news that Resort World in Manila has been attacked.

According to the BBC

At least 25 bodies have been found in a casino and hotel complex in the Philippines, following a shooting incident by a gunman, local media said.

Most of the dead appear to have suffocated from thick smoke after the man set fire to casino tables, news outlet ABS-CBN reported.

The gunman began shooting at TV monitors in Resorts World Manila in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police said he later killed himself by setting himself on fire.

The unnamed man, armed with an assault rifle, sparked a security lockdown and a manhunt in the complex, which ended around dawn on Friday when his body was found in a room in the hotel.

The incident saw terrified patrons fleeing the complex. More than 50 people have been sent to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

Resorts World Manila said in an earlier statement that the man also shot himself after setting himself on fire.

Authorities have been sweeping the complex and checking rooms since his body was found.

Police told reporters on Friday morning the incident appeared to have been a robbery attempt, and was not terror-related.

So some shit has gone down in London tonight. Not sure what at present. I am safe. My friend thought I would have sympathy with terrorists as I am leftie. Sigh. Someone I know thinks that. :lou_facepalm_2:

At no point do I agree with killling. I am a massive pacifist.

A friend of mine was there. Has some footage of the incident which we’ve all seen on our WhatsApp group. Was convinced one of the stabbers was a bald white man interestingly.

Psychopaths come in all shapes, sizes and colour. :lou_sad:

Links with our part of the world.

And a “sad” story - as in how did it come to this?

As for “respected” no, never met him or heard of him - he seemed to move in that “Upper Class Brit” social circle that us mere mortals just detested.

The Fail link has more depth in it than our local coverage but it has obviously been widely reported locally.

Guys. We’ve made it to the Jetsons era. (Flying Taxis)

They really are testing these things. (Luckily I will NOT be able to be conned or forced into one - weight limit seems to be 90Kg. My Fat Club efforts are going well but I ain’t ever getting to that level!)

It was also all over the BBC this morning.

What a deeply unpleasant cunt. I’m sure he’s not representative of the upper classes.

Have to agree with you there @fatso - odious.

Unfortunately there are still too many “aristocrats” out there who seem to think they are above the law.

Quite why they are not stripped of the outmoded titles and sense of entitlement they cling to is beyond me.

If anything he’s proof that social change hasn’t reached the scum floating on the top and it needs to be skimmed off asap. (in a nonviolent way obviously)
