Warwickshire v Hants - Relegation battle

So Middx closed on 18-3 :lou_facepalm_2: :lou_facepalm_2:

I though Lamb had retired years ago…

The permutations

With Somerset only collecting one bonus point, and Yorkshire claiming all three bowling bonus points at champions Essex, it left the relegation scrap with just three teams.

I’m bringing out the bullet points again to explain the terms and conditions of relegation…

  • Somerset MUST beat Middlesex to stand a chance of surviving
  • Middlesex will be safe if they pick up two batting bonus points (score at least 250)
  • Hampshire need a maximum of eight points against Warwickshire to avoid relegation

Basically, a huge amount rests on what happens at Taunton today!

Anyone fancy some punishment???

Hmmmm…

Middx have complained about the Taunton pitch after 9 wickets fell in the final session, and 9 of the 13 on the day fell to spinners.

The BBC say Somerset may be hit with a points deduction. More news today apparently.

Cheers @btripz

Wasn’t it shit batting by Somerset not a bad pitch??

WICKET Simpson (run out) 0

Somerset 236 v Middlesex 22-5

Oh. My. Word.

That’s superb fielding by Dom Bess!

The two batsmen go for a quick single, but Bess pounces and runs out John Simpson with a direct hit.

He only had one stump to aim at. Middlesex are reeling.

WICKET Voges (c Abell b Bess) 4

Somerset 236 v Middlesex 18-4

Four down! Dream start for Somerset.

Middlesex captain Adam Voges smacks Dom Bess towards mid-wicket, but Tom Abell snaffles it superbly.

Coupled with Hampshire’s excellent opening few overs at Edgbaston, Middlesex are in real trouble.

12-4

Middx already five down too.

28-5. Edwards takes another.

Good thing too as Kyle is off getting treatment after slipping
