Mrs Bucks warns me that most Pilates (as Intiniki says) is about core muscle strength and many classes pitch you straight into full-on exercises. So make sure you go gently to start with is the solid advice, if you choose Pilates, but with practice / experience it certainly produces beneficial results.

The quacks at the GP are useless when it comes to bad backs - take a pill and rest is about the sum of their knowledge on the subject

Apologies to those docs on here that I have just derided with my sweeping generalisation. The back is giving me gip this morning and Im grumpy.

Almost downvoted that. Terrible, terrible advice, go straight to a physio. If I hear of any good ones I’ll post their details.
