60,000 Posts on the Board

60,000 Posts up on the Board then, in the roughly nine months since you got started in pastures new.

That has to be seen as a pretty good effort!

Statistically, that breaks down to 6666.666666 posts per month. That probably means something! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

From my calculations, it appears that hoofinruth delivered the decisive blow. [applause]

We’d have 600,000 if I’d approved the spam accounts!

Damn. And we could have all been earning $3000 a day from home, too.

No doubt I’ll get hundreds of points for this?

Yeah, but – quality over quantity Pap. I’m sure these were 60,000 of the “bestest, most passionate posts eva!” :lou_wink_2:

Now now, I’m sure when I’m drunk and sentimental after the next Saints win, I’ll do the virtual equivalent of “I love yis bassards. Yer me bess mates” (there have been several posts like this in Sotonians’ storied history already).

We have already attained a reputation for being backslappers, so I’m not about to give our detractors ammunition while I’m in the throes of sobriety.

Congrats Ruth! You are a Southampton forum legend as far as I’m concerned! :lou_smiley:

Why is 60000 a special number?

Just asking.

Six is a nice number. Way better than 5 or 10. Add a lot of zeros and it’s very cool.

I’ve always been a 3 fan coz it looks like norks.

So – Saturday night then. :lou_lol: Will look forward to it.

Damn, and I’ve just effectively contributed to and likely enhanced that reputation with this thread. Still, rather be amongst such fine self-congratulatory light-hearted revellers, than a bunch of miserable self-important squabbling wankers who think stalking posters around a forum and pissing on all their posts, is what good-forum-fun is all about. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

Big difference between playfully acting a cunt sometimes for ironic comic effect among friends, and being a C.B Fry.

Yeah, but you also set me and Pap off on a massive squabble, so you’re now effectively neutral. :lou_wink_2:

Must be 60,000 reasons mate. :lou_wink_2:

Nah, seriously – I’d never really noticed the amount of posts on this forum before, but when I logged in, that nice round 60,000 figure was staring me directly in the face, and I just thought, 60,000 posts in less than a year, for a new forum with a relatively small core group of members is a good effort.

Being a multiple of 10,000 renders it a milestone of sorts, and when the ratio of posts came out as a play on 666 – I thought a post was in order. :lou_smiley:

I did nothing of the sort young lady! I simply shared a personal experience. You two took care of the rest without any assistance from me! Still – it did make for entertaining, if unexpected viewing! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

60,000 posts? Jeez thats a lot of bollox posted and time us proud folk wont get back… what was I thinking?

Ha! Just teasing ya, Jack Schitt. :lou_lol:

Though what’s with all the cheesy emoticons?! Have you no self respect? :lou_wink_2:

and it’s magic, innit.

How many of these were from Baz’s musing, scattergun, unfathomable threads? 666?

Plenty, thanks Lou. I also have a lot of respect for others too, and as such, I like to ensure that my posts clearly portray my intentions.

Y’see, without that little laughing dude after the first portion of what I’d written, it could come across as if I had an issue with what happened. That astutely placed smiley indicates that on the contrary, I was amused at the way such a heated exchange followed my honest account of what I’d seen, that I was simply passing on as I foolishly assumed that someone might find it interesting information, possibly even worthy of discussion. :lou_wink_2:

I know you’re just playing with your emoticon comment, but it is actually something I’ve never really “got” – just how many people on internet forums actually genuinely hold that opinion about smileys. For me, I’d much rather become known as that soppy twat who uses lots of emoticons, but whose posts can rarely be misunderstood and cause unintentional offence – than as that stroppy cunt who gets other posters backs up, because I fail to convey intention or tone of voice.

Emoticons add colour and personality to a post, where otherwise it can be pure guesswork to decipher how to take what someone has said on the internet without the aid of visual or sonic clues. In real life, we have our facial expressions and body language to convey irony, humour etc. – on Sotonians we have, err – penis heads. :lou_lol:

So basically, if you do not like my use of emoticons, or overly long explanations for their usage when asked – then you can go fuck yourself!

Think we might have 6,666 more when you get around to your strumming around yankville thread :lou_sunglasses: :guitar::us:

I think you’re massively underestimating the power of massive squabbles.

Most of my best friends (sorry Fatso) were borne from massive squabbles.
