Cheap hotel or B&B in central Southampton?

Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel or B&B in the city centre? I’m looking for cheap as chips and don’t give a stuff about quality as I’m only going to be using it for passing out at some ungodly hour.

Premier Inn is 68 quid. Six Dials, so very central. The only two problems is that the local pimps run a lot of their girls there (or did, the one and only time I stayed). Also, Lenny Henry may have had a wank in your bed.

Comfy beds at Premier Inn and the bars are doing a 2 for 1 offer between 6 and 8 :lou_wink:

Surely any old online site can find a number of half-decent B&B’s that don’t pander to the big business ethic of putting everyone independent out of business while charging ridiculous prices for crap built over a car park.

And there will be plenty of musty, chintzy b and b’s with too soft beds and greasy breakfasts.

Cheers for swift replies. Unfortunately Prem Inn is booked for the dates I want (28th Oct) and is offering West Quay as an alternative but the other issue is that our definitions of cheap as chips are different. I’m a pauper. I’m looking for REALLY cheap as chips. West quay for three people is £180. That’s a holiday to me, not a night in a shit hotel.

You’ll struggle to get anything cheaper than that.

Classic serial killer behaviour.

I’ve seen it so many times, it’s just not funny anymore.

Could try airbnb? Sure booking.com would find you a cheap one in Shirley / Polygon area.

That’s assuming none of us are mass murderers…

You can stay at mine, Fatso!

I’m looking at this now. I’ve seen a place that is within my meagre means and will take three people. My only concerns are whether I would want to inflict my drunken behaviour on this person and how far she is from city centre.

I’ve been greatly touched by the rallying around and support offered by the Sotonians in my hour of need. Let me exploit that help a little more and once I’ve received some answers, I can touch you back.

Anyone know Cotswold Road? It’s in between Pennine Rd and Cumbrian way, north of millbrook Flyover.

How far is that from the city centre?

OOOO, don’t go there! Scary!

Please be serious. I’m beginning to lose the will to live looking at places to stay.

Neither Ted Bundy nor Jeffrey Dahmer would know Cotswold Road.

Just saying…

For a budget bet you could stay in one of the guest houses on The Polygon. However, having lived on that road, I would treat it as a last resort.

Doubt any of those places would be bothered about drunken antics mind you, and it is an ideal location if you want to be near to town.

Having re-read the opening post I’d actually double back and say this is your best option.

What I would say is this: do not go for Polygon Guest House. That was the one I lived directly next to and there was constant trouble. The ones down the park end of The Polygon always looked a bit better. Best reviewed ones on Trip Advisor are Linden Guest House and Claremont Guest House.

Alternatively there’s loads on Landguard Road, which is virtually in Shirley so a little further out.

Thanks ant, although I’ve already tried those places and they’re all booked up. At least, that’s what they’re telling me.

i am now waiting on a friend of mine to get in touch to say if he is happy using aribnb and a lady who seems willing to share her house with three drunken men to reply to an email I have sent her. I felt it only fair to check with her that she understood that the cleaning fee of £7 for the room would be woefully insufficient given the amount of piss, shit and sick that will cover the walls and carpet. She hasn’t replied yet.

thanks again all.

What about the pub on the corner of where the Dell used to be? That had rooms that were cheap I seem to remember.
