Tridents

Do you want them? Why is they called Tridents? Is it cos there is three of them, or is it cos they are weapons from the sea?

I had a similar situation one time when my mate was threatening to start a band. He said we should both buy expensive guitars, and then when we’re good enough, we should reign terror on music fans. What I did, was say yeah no probs, and made out like I had spent £40bn on musical deterrent, but actually I hadn’t. I spent it on Panini Stickers and video games. We should adopt same policy. Oh yeah, we’ve got loads of Tridents. How did you pay for them new hospitals, then? Oh, you know. My nan died. She left me some cash.

    1. WHAT ARE TRIDENTS?

Saw something recently where someone said lets spend the money on the NHS and if people want Tridents have charity TV events to raise the cash and those who want them can pay for them. Clearly isnt going to happen, but great idea!

We could have a TV fundraiser for all weaponry…

Newsreaders dancing, the cast of Eastenders on a bouncy castle, and then cut to short films where celebs describe how much damage we’ve done to various corners of the world where oil is important.

This was an Isis stronghold next to a playschool, we’ve blown them both to shit, thanks to your donation.

David Walliams to present…

It’s a lot of money for a weapon of mass destruction that we never want to use.

The likes of dune will tell you that it gets you to the top table, which is nonsense. Do we really think that international meetings are conducted like gunboat diplomacy, only with nuclear submarines?

If you think about what it actually buys us, it’s not much. We haven’t demonstrated a great deal of independence in our foreign policy. The one nation that’s actually got form for dropping nukes on people has the largest arsenal in the world.

The best we can do is kill millions of people if someone gets us first. There’s no way we could win a nuclear war, nor should we want to. Is that really worth the expenditure, either morally or financially, especially when we could be spending that finance on more moral causes?

if we can have a vote on leaving #brexit that might impact me financially i want a vote on #trident that will impact mankind indefinitely !

It is difficult to say if this has helped or not over the years as you will never know what Trident has or hasnt deterred.

It is a fuck ton of cash that we could better use elsewhere - and it won’t be £40bn because this is an MOD procurement project - so sign us up for £80bn. Would anyone really launch the things?

I really don’t know if we should or shouldnt renew.

If we could strap Davina McCall to a crowd funded cruise missle, I would be all over this.

Yeah great idea to get rid of.

After all, Poundland sell nice blankets to hide under in this world full of nutters.

Totally against Nukes of course, yet a Computer Shop down here was within seconds of selling the latest weapons tech to Iran & North Korea only a few years ago.

And do you lot REALLY trust Putin not to kick off? After Syria & Ukraine?

And in the spirit of Papsweb, let’s face it, the single most dangerous Nation on earth has Nukes.

Israel.

And of course Barack’s buddies are now nice guys and aren’t still trying to get them, and of course the Saudi’s aren’t worried about what they may have to do if Iran got them, and of course, Pakistan is such a stable democracy, we don’t have to worry about them do we.

But yeah, go give that money to the profit line of big Pharma Companies instead. You can then take a Prescription Diazepam when the bombs start raining down.

Our nuclear deterrent did nothing to stop the Argentinians invading the Falklands. It does nothing to deter ISIS. I cant say for sure that it has put Putin off launching an invasion on the British Isles but I suspect that it isnt on his agenda. Everyone knows that we arent going to launch them and our “special relationship” with America means that our buddies have got plenty should we ever need some back up. It is cheaper and more effective to stop the cuts on our armed forces and make sure they are well equiped.

Our special relationship became less special when we became less use to the US in Europe.

Let’s not kid ourselves that they love us for who we are, it’s what we can do for them.

Crossrail cost £25billion, it’s numbers at the end of the day and does anyone think we’d see it spent on us? Don’t go trusting politicians what have I told you? Get the bombs simply as it employs people. Expensive but a price worth paying, what do our masters across the pond say? We’ll be getting them and that’s it bitches.

I don’t think I’d drop a trident on someone, even if they dropped one on me. Two Wrongs Don’t Make A Right. I also don’t think a country will drop a Trident on us anyway, when it happens it will be a terror-bro, or a rogue nut-job, i.e. someone who don’t care if his own people get nuked in return. I’m willing to stake all ur lives on this.

On other hand, it might be useful when Aliens arrive, unless they’ve got those green force shields, but then I spose we can easiy hack their ipods so Tridents might be useful after that.

Id say mutually assured destruction is a pretty good deterrent and 40 bill is fuck all in the long term, the flip flop wearers (it’s summer)just don’t like it when we have a bit of juice in our stuck.

They should do a referendum saying:

a) Give £40bn to Tridents

b) Give £40bn to NHS

c) Give every taxpayer a grand.

I know it’s the telegraph but an interesting point raised is that the only reason that there is a frre vote for Labour is because it prevents Corbyn breaking the whip as it is still Labout party policy to support trident. Corbyn putting his own interests ahead of the Labour party?

d) Give 40 bill to numptyboi who promises to call chinese / north koreans / russians / isis “cunts” if we ever get nuked.

I went on a two week work experience stint whilst at school, called Project Trident. I was in the warehouse at Woolies and didn’t see any nukes or submarines, But i did see some fertiliser and batteries, so we probably do need the nukes in case the nutters get all cunty on us.

The propaganda does its job, eh? I enjoyed your post but I should also point out that none of those countries have nuked anybody else.
