Dunno about Dennis but I remember being on a London Saints coach up to United many moons ago where the inflight movie was porn. That was pretty weird.
A flying coach … now that is pretty weird. Maybe you were a littke high yourself?
How many years back? I went on a few of Clive Foley’s Trips oop north. Ale wasn’t just allowed on … it was virtually mandatory
Pretty sure other substances were in use as well during the day too, although not on the bus.
*This was before complete ban on alcohol on Football Transport and other activities may have occured in pub bogs etc.
Early to mid 90’s if I recall, used him now and again, just thinking about the coach travel, never as good as the train or hired mini bus but still had a laugh, I remember doing midweek Blackburn away though on the official when no one was running, that was a test of character I’ll tell you.
I’m going back to the mid 70’s early 80’s … when every away day was fraught with danger!!
I did the bingo bus out of necessity in the mid 70’s to Grimsby FA Cup Preston League Cup , Burnley and Norwich … and I feel your pain!! We arrived 20 mins late at Norwich but did manage to sink 3 beers rapidly in some little town we stopped at for a tea break. The traffic jam from there to the ground was excruciating as p!ss stops in a layby weren’t part of their regime
I remember going on a Bus trip to Wembley for an England game, in the '70s. I’d finished a half bottle of Cognac by the time we got to Chilworth roundabout…on the outward leg. It was quite a day.
I’m amazed that you can remember it!! Maybe you can remember not being able to remember it
Minibus with a load of lunatics and copious booze/stimulants to some northern shit hole. I miss those days.
I love Cognac…it does get me pissed but never gives me a hangover…a very civilised way to drink yourself comatose.
The game was England vs Portugal…Mickey Channon played…Dave Watson and Frank Worthington (later Saints).
Fuckin’ 0 - 0 but I didn’t care: England Vs Portugal 20th November 1974
Just found out Dennis went flogged it to Nick Gregory who now does the away travel, his slip ons were something else.
