WATCH: Four men jump gate and run around St Mary’s pitch at night

Show/hide article…

Staff tried to chase down the men, who filmed themselves entering the Saints’ stadium and posted the footage online.

One of the men is 20-year-old Ally Law, who was involved a similar incident just weeks ago.

He was part of a group which managed to hide in The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex overnight before turning on the equipment.

It prompted calls for a security review over the council-owned building, with Active Nation, who run the facility on behalf of Southampton City Council, confirming one would take place following the incident.

The St Mary’s video, which has already been seen almost 150,000 times, shows the men entering the stadium late at night before going onto the grass and trying to open a hatch onto the roof.

Security and police were called before they then escaped through the turnstiles and out into the street.

A Hampshire Constabulary statement says: "We received a call shortly after 4am on October 23 reporting that four people were trespassing at St Mary’s Stadium.

“Security were on scene and police did attend, but the men had left by that point.”

A Southampton FC spokesman said: "The club has launched an investigation into an unauthorised entry into St Mary’s Stadium in the early hours of Monday 23rd October.

“We treat matters of security with the utmost seriousness and will be conducting a review of our security operations.”

Leicester could confirm former Saints boss as their new manager in next 24 hours

Show/hide article…

Leicester City are deep in talks with Claude Puel and could make him their manager in the next 24 hours, The Independent understands.

The Frenchman last year guided Southampton to eighth place in the Premier League and a League Cup final.

But his contract was terminated amid the general malaise brought about by his style of football, which was perceived as overly negative, and the fact that Saints amassed 17 points fewer than they had in the previous campaign under Ronald Koeman.

While the dour perception of Puel and his football might have been overly influenced by his manner in press conferences, his track record in France remains impressive. He guided Nice to fourth place in Ligue 1 and has previously coached Lyon and Lille.

Leicester were impressed by him in initial conversations last week, and had a second round of talks on Monday.

The club are now understood to be discussing the finer details of contracting the 56-year-old coach, including the composition of his backroom staff. Michael Appleton, the current caretaker, is not thought to want to stay with the Foxes but will be spoken to with a view to convincing him to remain with the club he left Oxford to join as assistant manager earlier in the year.

Leicester dismissed Craig Shakespeare last week after just four months in charge.

Antonio Conte among the favourites in the Premier League sack race

Show/hide article…

Less than three months into the Premier League season and already three top-flight managers have been relieved of their duties.

Ronald Koeman followed in the footsteps of Craig Shakespeare and Frank de Boer on Monday as Everton gave him the boot after just 16 months in charge.

Leicester are close to appointing former Southampton boss Claude Puel as their new manager after Shakespeare’s departure, while Crystal Palace now have Roy Hodgson in charge after dispensing of De Boer’s services after just four games.

But it appears likely that more clubs will be in Everton’s position in the coming months, with a number of big-name bosses increasingly under pressure.

Slaven Bilic is odds-on to be sacked by West Ham, while Antonio Conte’s position at Chelsea remains under threat after a mixed start to the season.

Here, Sportsmail takes a closer look at the six managers who are most in danger of losing their jobs according to the bookmakers.

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 4/6

Bilic is the overwhelming favourite to be the next manager to lose his job following the sacking of Koeman and Friday’s disastrous 3-0 home defeat by Brighton.

That result left the Hammers 16th in the table and out of the relegation zone on goal difference only, with a trip to fellow strugglers Crystal Palace next up after Wednesday’s Carabao Cup tie against London rivals Tottenham at Wembley.

West Ham are believed to be lining up a move for Hoffeinheim’s promising young boss Julian Nagelsmann, while former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel is also under consideration to replace Bilic.

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 9/1

Hughes retains the support of Stoke chairman Peter Coates despite Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat by Bournemouth, but the former Manchester City boss is under no illusions about the need to improve results fast.

The Potters find themselves 17th in the table and only out of the drop zone on goal difference ahead a tough trip to in-form Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Hughes led Stoke to ninth-place finishes in his first three seasons in charge, but last term’s 13th has increased concern among some supporters.

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 11/1

After a turbulent summer in which Chelsea failed to land a number of their top targets, Conte needed to hit the ground running. Instead, he began with a home defeat by Burnley.

Since that day in August the Italian has steadied the ship, although the recent loss at rock-bottom Crystal Palace has led to more questions over his future.

With the Blues nine points behind leaders Manchester City and seemingly in a battle for a top-four spot, the pressure is on Conte to deliver the sort of results and performances which made Chelsea champions during his debut season in England.

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 12/1

Pellegrino has only been in charge at St Mary’s since the summer, but he already finds himself among the favourites for the sack after an up-and-down start to life on the south coast.

Saturday’s narrow victory over West Brom has eased the pressure on the Argentine, although Southampton’s lack of goals remains a concern.

Saints are 10th in the table after winning three, drawing three and losing three so far, but the sacking of Puel, who finished eighth and reached a cup final last season, shows that the club’s hierarchy expect improvement.

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 18/1

Clement proved his worth after arriving at Swansea in January, helping them avoid relegation to the Championship with a game to spare.

But a poor start to the season, which has seen the Swans lose five of their nine top-flight games so far, has left the former Bayern Munich assistant in an uncomfortable position.

The loss of Gylfi Sigurdsson has been felt, while summer signings Renato Sanches and Wilfried Bony have failed to impress. And next up is a trip to Arsenal…

Odds to be the next Premier League manager to leave: 18/1

After starting the season with back-to-back 1-0 wins over Bournemouth and Burnley, things have quickly gone downhill for Pulis and West Brom.

Saturday’s defeat at Southampton left the Baggies 13th in the table and without a victory since the win at Turf Moor on August 19.

Pulis’ style of play has been tolerated by fans when results have been good, but it is likely to become a talking point again if this current run of poor form continues.

Saints Foundation - One March tournament

Show/hide article…

The event was designed to bring together boys and girls of all ages and abilities from schools Saints Foundation works with, including Community Champion Schools and Special Educational Needs Schools.

The day was made up of an inclusion workshop, with the participants interacting with each other to design their own pennant to reflect what inclusion and equality meant to them, and football activity.

Jack Rutter, England Cerebral Palsy Captain, spoke to everyone involved about his story; about when he was on the verge of signing a professional contract with Birmingham City, his struggles with coming to terms with his disability after being assaulted on a night out, to his rise through the disability football pathway and on to becoming captain of the England Cerebral Palsy football team.

This was followed by an inclusive football tournament with players being mixed with people from other schools and representing countries from around the world.

Our very own Kelvin Davis dropped in to hand out the medals to all players.
