Rodgers sacked

They would have been better served spending big money on fewer, but more classy, players, no doubt. But I can’t help thinking they are still living off their past. Rodgers didn’t have a bad record there, really and perhaps there is an argument that he should have been given more time. Who knows. Anyway, fuck it, i couldn’t care less if truth be told and you’ll know more than me, living there and all. As long as we knacker them in a few weeks, all well and good.

Melwood is about half a mile away from my house, but vicinity aside, I don’t really know much more. I’m just guessing and/or reading between the lines. Very difficult to know what to believe, but the transfer committee knew that Brendan didn’t have any pull and/or just bought the players he asked for.

I genuinely think that bloke held them back. Couldn’t really manage the big names, which is why he didn’t manage to sign any and lost a lot of their best players.

I hope you credited whoever took the photo.

Rodgers statement made through the LMA is a barrel of laughs

I am, of course, incredibly disappointed to be leaving Liverpool Football Club. It has been both an honour and a privilege to manage one of the game’s great clubs for the last three years.

“I have worked every day to represent the club to the best of my ability, to develop both individual players and a team that the club’s magnificent fans can be proud of. There have been some very memorable moments during my time at Liverpool and I would like to thank all of the players for their hard work and commitment. The current squad is one in transition , but they have some real talent and are showing a strong sense of togetherness. I expect to see them continue to grow and develop over the coming weeks and I wish them and my successor well for the rest of the season.

“Liverpool has a magnificent football heritage and I have nothing but respect and admiration for the history, tradition and values that make the city and the club so exceptional. As well as my players, I would like to thank everyone connected with the club; Fenway Sports Group, the Liverpool Directors, in particular Ian Ayre, my coaching staff, the staff throughout the club, the volunteers, the Academy staff and its young players and of course the amazing Liverpool fans for their unwavering support, passion and dedication which has made my time at the club so special.

“Finally, I would like to give a special mention to John W. Henry, Tom Werner and Mike Gordon. They gave me this great opportunity and even though we will no longer be working together I am sure our relationship and friendship will continue into the future.”

Transition? Are you fucking kidding me? You’ve had 3 and a bit years there pal. You’ve lost 2 players you wanted to keep, and moved out a popular figure you didn’t want. If by now you still havn’t got a squad you want, you don’t deserve your job.

Like it or lump it, 3 and a bit years is a lifetime in PL management now. Not many managers get that long to ‘transition’ their team to what they want. He had plenty of time, and by his own reckoning, enough money to be winning the league. No sympathy pal, it’s all your own downfall.

That raises a very good point about his future employability. It will be interesting to see if he gets another job in football and if so, who will take a chance on him. Championship at best, i reckon.

Think that might be a tad harsh, myself. He’ll get a job soon enough. Won’t be a top job, but definitely Prem. Could see him going abroad, like Moyes too.

Back when Being Liverpool was on, Barry Glendenning, Guardian journalist who appears on Football Weekly and now talkSPORT, said he got the impression of a snake oil salesman.

I think a lot of employers will look at that, with the benefit of hindsight, and arrive at the same conclusion.

His win %age with the Scouse is better than at any other of his clubs before. It is only marginally worse than when Benitez was the gaffer and certainly better than most LFC managers over recent times. Although Rodgers is a plum, especially for his Brentisms and what he said about Saints, The real problem lies with the club and their self delusion. Once great, now not and a good way behind the really powerful Clubs in world football.

Read yesterday that the Liverpool Transfer Committee vetoed a move for Ryan Bertrand before he signed for us. Love it!

The word is that it is a done deal and could well have been in progress before Brenda was sacked.
