Saints V Bournemouth Drinks

Yes, I’m familiar with the South Western, its proximity to the station and its many pub dogs.

Remember when we nearly met there once before?

(Good man!)

Hmm, that might rule it out for me as I’ll need to get back to Southampton Central, and it really is a miserable treck back to London on a Sunday evening.

After the Man U game the trains were so rammed (ie.rush hour tube style rammed) that I had to wait an hour for one that was just reasonable standing room only. But maybe that’s because there are so many Man U fans in London/going through London. Maybe a Bournemouth game won’t be so bad.

So here’s the issue. I’ve got to drag myself to a pub by train and foot and have between 1.5 to 2.25 pints with you all and then drag myself home again by foot and train.

You’re just not that important to me. Don’t flatter yourselves. You know you’re not.

But, if I’m invited to go and have > 2.25 pints and relax into a nice evening amongst other Internet-weirdos, then I’m up for it.

To be clear, I’m happy to drink after Bournemouth or postpone to a Saturday.

I’ll be about afterwards on the Sunday night, so will be up for a beer. As I said earlier, it really isn’t worth doing a Sunday and aiming to get back that day for me. So yeah, South Western might be a plan.

Platform Tavern is really good too, but I’m easy. At least you, GB and I there anyway.

…and Big Mateless Bob I believe.

I’m up for the Platform too if that’s better for everyone. Basically I’ll be happy with a park bench and a toothless hag if there’s beer involved.

Hmm… You haven’t met Bletch yet, have you?

Platform probably too far for me as well, but a drink afterwards is probably unrealistic anyway, so I’ll save my moment with Bletch for another time (and at least you boys can go ahead and plan your Socialist revolution without me hindering it :lou_wink:)

It’s not about the words, Bletchey Babe. It’s all about the action.

What can I do to make you come, Louise?

A bit of sustained pressure usually does the job.

Ok sorry to poop on the party but I am just planning my travel ahead of Sunday’s biggest ever Sotonians social gathering and it occurs to me that while the numbers may be healthy, the venue will have to be either a backstreet cafe or somewhere further afield, heaven forbid maybe even Eastleigh. We have overlooked that 10 square miles of beautiful downtown Soton will be in serious and complete lockdown, ahead of The Biggest and Baddest South Coast Derby in a Generation.

Anyone for tea?

You are jokin aren’t you, they’re not locking down the whole fricking town are they? They never did for our other recent Bournemouth matches…

Is that your hungover face, Goats?

This is Premier League though innit. The Bournemouth crew are steaming, ahead of this giant derby clash against their biggest rivals. Thats what they told me in Laura Ashley anyway.

That’s the face goatster reserves for when Big Stupid Bob doesn’t pick up on irony.

BTW Big Friendless Bob, two things.

Firstly I am still up for boring* the shit out of you after the match. Secondly, my predictive text keyboard has remembered Big Friendless Bob, and whenever I type Big, it automatically offers me Friendless followed by Bob.

Yours evidently, Big Friendless Bletch.

PS try as hard as I might, I failed to make Lou come.

* not a euphemism.

That’s why we need decent emoticons on here, sometimes my ironydar just isn’t tuned in properly.

I look forward to that, pre-match may be a problem but post is not.

Is it worth a call to the Rockstone to find out if they’re open before the game?

Down voted BBB, as I can not do post, thanks to Bletch picking a pub about 3 miles from the station. :lou_sad:
