I’m going to guess the hipster reference relates to the fact all the cool, young guns in Europe all join Southampton. I don’t think we have a particularly high quota of beards in a team, and skinny jeans are so common place these days, it can’t be that.
That said, it could be a reference to our supporters. When I think of Barry, Furball, Ted, and Fatso, hipster does seem appropriate…
I like hipsters. They’ve made the things I was interested in as a kid (which were distinctly uncool at the time) cool again. Retro art for one. Take screen printing - now there are facilities cropping up everywhere and lots of customers. I can’t complain.
I thought Hipsters were trousers that fitted on the hips not the waist? Meh, what do I know, I’m 47 and have never been a dedicated follower of fashion
I have been described as a hipster, primarily by a Philadelphian exchange student that was with us for a bit. Her definition was “aggressively and purposefully against the mainstream”. There was no talk of trend-setting, etc.
